With no explanation of how it's generating or amplifying sound all I can say is that I'm intrigued yet confused.

https://somasynths.com/dvina/ says:

"I take the electric signal DIRECTLY from the strings that vibrate in the strong magnetic field of a neodymium magnet, hidden in the neck."

Sounds like guitar pickup technology to me, but Vlad says it's not exactly the same.

The text in the video says the strings directly excite a magnet, and that there is no pickup as such, but what I can't see us where the electrical output passes out to an amp or recorder.

It sounds great when one of the two strings acts as a drone / resonator, while the other is 'fretted' to produce the melody.

Vlad's gone shinehead!

I'm liking electro-acoustic more and more, but not a string player.

Who’d have known that Heaven’s Gate would be back with their own Pied Piper so soon?

My place in the waiting list has been called! Has anyone got one yet, or played one? I've filled in the form and replied to the order confirmation, and will definitely go ahead. But naturally I'm interested in other people's experiences, if there are any here, since I haven't read anything about DVINA since last year

You lucky dog. I don’t think there any of these in the wild yet. When did you place your pre-order?

I was on the waiting list from the first day I think. As soon as I read about it, I sent the email.

I read that DVINA uses 3rd and 4th guitar strings by default, but should also work fine with cello strings. I would think a standard cello bow would work best, but I’ve never tried a bow on guitar strings (actually, I’ve meant to but haven’t had a bow in a long time). Any opinions on bows and strings?
