Had a chance to play one of these at robotspeak lin SF ast weekend. Sounded really great and inspiring in a way that I often find only hardware can achieve.

Picked up an IC at Synthfest a few weeks ago - loving it!

It really pays to explore the subtleties of this as minor tweaks can make significant changes to what comes out the other end.

Page 18 offers this advice, which I think applies to the right approach to Getting the best from IC:

The Cut-Off and the VCF-R detune (offset) cut-off controls are the main two controls for general / overall cut-off. Balance these well!

The significant phrase is ‘balance these well’.

May not be one synth to rule them all (could there ever be one?) - but it is loads of fun!
. . . we better let him in . . . . . he's got a Theremin . . . (HMHB: 'Look Dad No Tunes')

I also played with it and Synthfest then immediately got funds together to buy one the following week hah.

I made another video just making sounds on it with a little jam at the end, just a fraction of the sounds this thing can make:

For anyone on the fence about getting one SW has a promo where you get a complimentary AS Treadstone if you buy an Impulse Command.

anyone here having any sync issues with their Impulse Command?

just acquired one.

it seemed to sync up fine connected to a Deluge and set to MIDI clock sync.

i now have it connected to an e-rm Multiclock and it seems to drift.
(i even did a factory reset on the e-rm box just in case)

also...tried sending it a Gate out from the Deluge into it's Clock IN and it wouldn't play when set to Clk JACK.

i did another test just now using the Double Knot as a Clk IN to the Impulse Command and that worked like a fracken champ.

still troubleshooting a bit but i figured i would ask.

thanks for any help!

so...
i ended up slaving the Impulse Command through the Double Knot V2 which was clocked from a Deluge and everything stayed solid for tonight's installment of:

Not that this would make a difference in me getting one, but I have some questions on the types of sounds it can the Impulse Command makes...

All the demoes I have notice have 1-2 things going on...

1 - It does well at an awesome bass line. I mean this thing sounds incredible for bass lines. I mean really awesome...
2 - There are sometimes some little sound effects alongside the awesome bass line, usually not buy themselves.

I'd be interested in knowing how this thing does at synth sounds like some of the chirpy Vince Clarke arpeggiated type of sounds for example. It would seem a natural for it. I just never have heard an example. I'd still get it just for the bass, but it would be nice to know what else I can get from it. (I'm guessing it may need to get midi note data?)

Thanks in advance!
Paul

I find the crossmod is good for this. It creates complex tones which sound great at a higher register, sometimes sounding like fm or phase mod.

I'd be interested in knowing what you discovered around this. I'm awaiting mine to come in - I ended up ordering from a place where I could get a discount, but it was on back order. (Makes me think this thing is super popular as well.)

As soon as I get mine, I'll be giving it a lot of love. Staying pretty much locked in here, so it would be nice to entertain myself with this and 1-2 other synths I have.

Got it yesterday and finally played with it today. I had some nice grooves going - I teamed it up with my Microvolt 3900 and a Volca Beats. I am going to take a few days off in the near future and do nothing but make music with it and have it become friendly with my other synths.

You can NOT go wrong with this beautiful synth.

I found this to be immediately true, I had wonderful set of Vince Clark-like spring beat going and I coudl change it to another by sliding around the middle. I could give it a more aggressive Depeche Mode like feel by playing with the Patch setting subtlely. It's an absolutely amazing device.

I keep GAS'sing for this one. Even though I can't say I really need it for the music I'm making, I keep feeling that this has got to be the most fun synth to play with. And such strong sound and character.

Probably one of the most overlooked contemporary synths. Also, if I was looking for a groovebox of some kind, I'd strongly consider this; what you'd lose out on in features compared to the digital boxes you'd get in spades in terms of sound and hands-on joy.

@RedLab +1 to everything you said.... and thanks for posting the tune! (Not exactly what I like per se, but does show off what it can do.)
