my loose definition of vintage is prior to 1990. or something like that..

Oberheim OB-X 8v
Oberheim OB-Xa
PPG Wave 2
PPG Wave 2.3 + Waveterm B
Roland Jupiter 8A
Roland Jupiter 6 Europa
E-Mu Emulator II+
E-Mu Emax SE rack
Eminent Solina
Crumar Multiman
Sequential Prophet 5 rev2
Sequential Prophet VS rack
Sequential Prophet 2002+
Waldorf Microwave Rev A
Yamaha SY77
Akai VX600

and.. can we say semi vintage?

Waldorf XT
Waldorf Q
Access Virus B
Alesis Andromeda
Alesis Andromeda
Roland JD-990
Korg Wavestation A/D
Technics WSA1
etc

Yamaha CS50
Yamaha CS80
Prophet 5 Rev. 3.3
Prophet VS
Roland JX-3P
Roland JX-8P
Roland VP-330 Vocoder Plus
PPG 360A Wave Computer
PPG Wave 2
Korg Polyphonic Ensemble 2000
Korg Wavestation EX
now that is a positively great setup.

i blame my ignorrant self for not picking up the 360A in timely manner, when they weren't so expensive. that and a Synclavier II with old 8-bit fm, are two prehistoric digital machines i really regret not grabbing to this day. CS80 is of course mega nice but i just couldnt upkeep mine in these neck of woods and sold it in need of cash long time ago  will probably pick a CS50 soon tho. wonderous sounds..

@oldgearguy

Funny how I sold my PPG Wave 2.3 on Reverb just 6 months ago and then regretted it and now I got lucky to get this one! What a super nice guy with super great well kept pristine condition gear - the PPG looks like to was just new and is in excellent shape. I showed him my two rooms of gear that is in various stages of being set up as I am reworking my studio - so when Oldgearguy came around to drop off the PPG Wave I was in the midst of studio updates ... so here is my more complete gear list although I would not call all of it really vintage:

Yamaha CS-80
Yamaha DX-1
PPG Wave 2.3
Jomox Sunsyn II
DK Synergy II+
Waldorf Microwave 1
Waldorf Microwave 2
Prophet T8
Rhodes Chroma
Schmidt 8-Voice
Moog One 16 Voice
Modal 002/002R
PolyEvolver x 4
John Bowen Solaris
Prophet-X
Hydrasynth
Kawai K5000R
Yamaha FS1R
Yamaha EX5R
Technics WSA1R
Technics WSA11
Yamaha VL1 x 2
Yamaha VL1m
Kawai XD5
Korg Kronos
Korg Waveststate
Emu E4XT Platinum
Emu E4XT Turbo + FX Card
Emu E4 Hollywood
Emu Emulator EII+
Ensoniq Fizmo Rack
KYMA Capybara
KYMA Pacarana x 3
Nord G2X Keyboard
Nord G2X Rack
Modcan Modular - 112 Modules

If I look at raw synthesis power alone, there is nothing more powerful than the Symbolic Sound Kyma system. However, it's not all about raw compute power - there is a design aesthetic and a feel - I asked Oldgearguy to twiddle a knob on my Modern so he could feel the solid military-grade potentiometer and how smooth and secure it feels to the touch so you can rely on what you've dialed in being precise and staying put.

In any case, I'm happy to meet folks in the DC area as I noticed a comment - just PM me :)

Cheers!

Excellent visit with a fellow synth enthusiast.

The ModCan controls felt very firm - you could definitely dial in settings with precision and know that accidentally brushing a cable against it wouldn't disrupt your patch.

Galxiesmerge knows his stuff and I'm looking forward to dropping by again when he finishes the studio reorg.

There are some amazing sounds to be discovered in the Matrix 1000. It’s amazing incredible synth!

I’ve never seen a JX10 in real life (I’ve owned an 8p), but from what I’ve heard, it’s unreal!

I’ve got TWO JX-10’s here right now. I’m doing a full Vecoven mod/upgrade to one for a friend. Mine has the Vecoven 4.x upgrade, but I haven’t done the PWM mod yet.

Just picked up a JP-8000 off Craigslist. I’m pretty well set on poly synths, but the price was right.

I look forward to it! I'm keen for us to all stay healthy and then remain healthy after this thing passes.
