Well, maybe (hopefully) Sweetwater is full of shit. “ We expect these to arrive in a few months.“ says the site.

Sweetwater also says: ‘Large (6GB) sample library’

I think danatkorg can tell us about this, too.

Wrote them and asked again, they say “ Our current ETA for these is first week of March. ”

Oh well, I’ll try to be patient....

Not their fault; a typo in the info they received.

Apparently I’m not in the front of the line...

(I asked, they only got a small shipment, mine is in the next one in a couple of weeks)

I ordered from Andertons, because they say they'd have stocks in february... until they changed it to end of march.
I have a feeling it's now a common trend for online shops to leave bogus dates to get as much pre order as they can... :bang:

AMS showed these as “in stock” last week. I called them, and yes, they were in stock, but no, you couldn’t actually buy one of those because they were all spoken for by preorders. But they’d still happily take your order and tell you it would be delivered in 3 days, even though in reality you’d be waiting for weeks until they got another shipment in. Downright dishonest is what it is....

Been stung so many times by pre orders that now I just wait and check to see who gets stuff in stock first. Wonder if manufacturers scrutinize this practice or if they love the sales up front even if they can't deliver.

I tried one in a local shop today. I liked the sound engine a lot, but the package is just really cheap. I came prepared to purchase, but the build quality just turned me off for the price they are asking. Flimsy plastic case and a sub standard keyboard. I will wait for the module version, I guess.

I had to give up my slot in the first round of preorders due to finances, maybe it was a good thing as I read much of the same from those on gearslutz from those who got theirs... not like the module will be any cheaper tho.

Yes! Like the stuff that starts at about 15 minutes. This is the kind of stuff that makes me want a polyphonic wavetable hardware synth.

And I'm pretty amazed at how cheap this synth is. In fact I wouldn't hesitate to pay a lot more - like twice as much - for a 'deluxe' version with a decent five octave keyboard with aftertouch (and for the love of God put the pitch & mod wheels to the left of the keyboard, not above it!).

I'm also curious about the learning curve for creating patches from scratch...

The Wavestate is not a wavetable hardware synth. It's a wave sequencing synth. Totally different thing. If you're looking for a polyphonic wavetable synth, the Hydrasynth or the Argon 8 are great choices.

Just wanted to make sure you knew what you were getting into. :)

Got mine a week or so ago. It really is very nice sounding. I get the cheap plastic turnoff but for me it's sufficiently unique enough to be useable. Maybe not for most though. It is very, very deep synthesis structure and takes a ton of dedication to delve into. It relies mainly on performance aspects. You can't customize the wave samples but it never lacks in interesting ways to build sound-scapes.

I do wonder about the output performance specs. Does anyone know the D/A output specs? It sounds a little bit on the low bandwidth wagon. I wouldn't be surprised if it is more of the way the samples were captured and filed. It has a sort of low fi and dark sound but maybe due more to the patches and sounds I am picking.

Anyway, here is a very short first pass at finding some fun wave sequences to fit into a project...

Great track! All of it is the Wavestate? Even the piano samples? ALSO, where did you get it? Is it shipping already? I love the trumpet/sax thing... kinda Jon Hasselesque...

I was an early pre-order person at Sweetwater. Yes it’s all totally the Wavestate, even the effects and mixing. It’s about 5 tracks to Cubase and a little post level & EQ adjustment on a couple of the tracks. When it first arrived I was not as impressed as I hoped to be but after a little exploration I was finding a lot to like quickly.

How satisfied is everyone?

These are 15% off at ProAudioStar... I'm mildly disappointed in no user samples but it's not a deal breaker for me. I love the orchestral patches having played many orchestral instruments in the past.

I’m enjoying it. Definitely a learning curve, but that’s to be expected with something this deep.
