Sequential Pro 3
Well, since the leak is sort of out... here ya go. Pretty radical synth and design. 2020 is the year of the wavetable.

and here's the non-special edition that I forgot to post with the other one:

Re: Sequential Pro 3
I regretted not picking up a Pro2 when they were still current; it had that "player's synth" quality to it on top of the programmability.
Looks my regrets are about to be washed away.

I like the rather cheeky nod to the old Model D layout too.

Re: Sequential Pro 3
agreed. too bad that'll be a special edition. apparently $1599 for the standard one, $2099 for the wooden/hinged one.Christopher Winkels wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 7:05 amI like the rather cheeky nod to the old Model D layout too.

here's the standard one:

Re: Sequential Pro 3
Fuck me silly, this thing looks like what I thought synths were like as a kid, very futuristic / cyberpunk-y aesthetic, like the Tempest. I love it.
Between the Matriarch, Pro 3, and ARP 2600, I'm not going to be able to eat soon!

Re: Sequential Pro 3
One thing I definitely don't need is another monosynth. /rushes off to pre-order

Re: Sequential Pro 3
Oh no...I’m very disappointed....no trace of Prophet X here...and 3 notes paraphonic, one less than the pro-2
And too moogish...no way

Re: Sequential Pro 3
Yeah, I like the look of this way less than the Pro 2, having three filters is quite interesting though, as is the programmable analog distortion and tuned feedback from the Prophet 6 and DSM respectively. On paper I really like this synth, but it's really hard to love something that looks like mutable instruments crossed with a minimoog, kind of "nuts and gum" situation. Doesn't help that the pro-2 is one of the best-looking DSI designs.
Still, it's basically a modular system with three filters, programmable analog and digital effects, I'm guessing 3 voice polyphony (individual articulation through each of the filters), analog and digital oscillators, etc. I could see myself swapping out one of my modular cases for this... If only it wasn't so ugly!

Can it do osc to osc fm?

I'm in love. It's got some MASS to that sound.Poptones wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 1:51 pmHere are a couple of factory sounds I've programmed for the Pro 3:

Re: Sequential Pro 3
Looks very cool! I love my Pro 2 and I'm glad to see they're following it up with something new. That's a nice amount of wavetables for the digital osc, and it's extra cool that you can use it at LFO rates. And a 32 slot matrix! Beautiful.

Some great sounds in there. How would you say it the oscillators and filters compare to the Pro 2?Poptones wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 1:51 pmHere are a couple of factory sounds I've programmed for the Pro 3:

Re: Sequential Pro 3
I felt this way at first. It isn’t my wishlist successor. But I’m kinda glad. Not an upgrade or replacement for the 2, but a new companion. And moogish ladder filter, sure, but pushing wavetable thru it. Yum.

Re: Sequential Pro 3
Interested in this as well!
Also I wonder how well the paraphonic mode works if you want the same wave shape for each note as opposed to cycling them. For example if you want all 3 oscillators to be squares, the digital one will almost invariably sound a bit different than the VCOs.
Re: Sequential Pro 3
holy hell that sounds good. i can hear some evolver soul in there--stunning!!
i guess that magnificent sound comes at the expense of the aesthetics

hypothetical DSI ad - "the third oscillator in para mode sounds different"
odd, so far I'm the only one in this thread that looks to see the Tempest aesthetics pushed into other devices.. oh well

This is the first time that a synth makes me wish to be single. Guess I have to work harder for money and think much harder to convince her to let me own this babe.

About to preorder it for $1,440 but my method must remain a secret.
