Re: Behringer 2600
It's sort of hard to put LED colors with ARP orange and not have it clash.
I get the homage, but I think blue or white would have looked better with the multicolored led sliders.
But I sort of like the leds...they are unabashedly 21st C.
Whatever. I think ugly gear looks better on stage. Long ago I worked at a neoprene shop that made high end custom wetsuits. We made this custom order with black and white and gold and purple and fucking leopard print neoprene. Ugliest damn thing I have ever had a hand in producing.
Customer came to try it on (and NBA star) and goddam if he didn't look like a million bucks in that thing. It looked AWESOME. On him.
I'm hoping the BARP looks better in my rack than in those photos.

Disappointment with any module is usually a failure of imagination.

Re: Behringer 2600
When the Behringer Model D came out it was Musician's Friend that got them first. People who had been waiting with preorders at Sweetwater were pissed because Musician's Friend had enough in stock to where anyone could just go to their page and buy one or more.
The point is, it's not safe to assume anything.

Re: Behringer 2600
yeah I agree it's hard to put any LED colors with the black/orange and have it look good. I think sticking with just one LED color throughout would've been better. I also think if they had not used the "broken switch" or "broken normal" type graphic for the patch points, it would've been cleaner. I get that the original 2600 (Tonus era) used this graphic, but the black/orange one didn't. maybe they had to do something to change it up though... anyway, it's ugly as sin.Flounderguts wrote: ↑Sun Oct 18, 2020 7:37 pmIt's sort of hard to put LED colors with ARP orange and not have it clash.

I wonder if there are slider caps that look like the original Arp pointer slider caps that can be placed over the LEDs?chiasticon wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 2:48 pmyeah I agree it's hard to put any LED colors with the black/orange and have it look good. Won't be buying, but love the lights! Wonder if build quality is better than Korg's

Re: Behringer 2600
Legend foretells of a future WTT BARP 2600 LEDs thread in which people offer to trade their non-favorite LED colors for The One True Color they prefer.

Re: Behringer 2600
The synthtopia site lists these specs which raise questions. (They do say preliminary and subject to change. But these look to me like enhancement ideas that didn't make it into the final product.)
"Multi-mode VCF with dedicated low-pass output with additional switched high/notch output"
No sign of high/notch in the photo, and not on original.
"Range of modules including ring modulator, lag processor, sample & hold, Schmitt trigger and envelope follower"
Schmitt trigger not in photo and not on original.
"2 dedicated LFOs with pulse and sine wave outputs"
2 LFOs only if you include the S&H clock as an LFO, I suppose, but it doesn't have a sine output.
"Switched Post Filter Distortion (PFD) / Inverter option on voltage processor"
PFD? Where?

@galanter2
Where do you find all these?
On the CMS 2607. From all outward indications, Behringer tends to clone already existing clones rather than OG.
That's a big part of my own holding out releasing a new format based on an old synth until they played their hand.

Re: Behringer 2600
Aha…so either Behringer hasn't released a photo of the real unit and it really does have those enhancements much like the CMS 2607…or Synthtopia used a CMS 2607 spec sheet when they wrote the BARP article not realizing it was different.
Or something.
