New Behringer 3-Tier Rack Moog Clone

Post by PoopMonster666 » Sat Jan 25, 2020 11:43 am

pretty cool new stand out by Behringer since their synths won't fit Moog's rack... I wonder if they have the ability to add more tiers vertically?

The power boards are coming later apparently they can be seen on the 500 series vid.

Weird that they bothered to copy Moogs design , can’t be that hard to put together an original case, but then their other is like tip top’s isn’t it ?

I wouldn't call it a Moog clone, except in the most abstract sense of "Moog had the idea of selling sidepieces to screw three desktop synths into first". The color is "well, it's black, duh"; the form of the holes just follows function; and everything else is just plain different.

The one thing that bothers me about both the moog rack and this rack (I have the moog rack), is that the top tier needs to be laid back to match the angle of the middle tier. When the rack is on a table and you are standing up, you want the top tier to lay back. I guess it depends on if you stand up or sit down, I typically stand up. Maybe two options?

or put the synths in upside down and put the rack on its back?

That's a great idea! I will have to go home and just flip the whole thing and see if I like the way it feels.. I am thinking the power jack and output jack that will now be on the front/bottom are going to be an issue...?

Because, obviously, you would just be flipping the faceplates and not the box itself...

nah id flip the whole box - the behringer stuff from memory only mounts with the top two screws nearest the faceplate so thats no trouble.

Looks like 4 screws on the Behringer as well.

Not too big of a deal, but it certainly makes it easier having two screws on when mounting the rack....

Update: flipping the Moog rack over does not lay the top rack back enough to make this worth the effort.

Come to think of it, I'd prefer both Moog and Behringer to just release 19" rack ears for their machines instead of, well, this.

You could just go to Front Panel Express, have them custom make a set of brackets in EXACTLY the angles you want them to be.

Can the metal sides be reversed to hide the logo?

Or use a big holesaw to remove the logo and at the same time give side access for cords. 8-)

Ha! Not a bad idea actually.

Anyway, I watched the video and they printed logos on *both* sides.

grumble grumble….

Unfortunately no, that would have been too classy. The logo is on both sides.

Wouldn't be the first time one logo was covered with another sticker of a more favorable brand.

Moog stickers on Korg, Korg stickers on Moog. Gaff tape on everything the artist isn't getting paid to use.

I'll still vote for the hole. That is *big* mistake on these. Not to have any side access on something so deep when 'everyone' is complaining about not having enough room in their studios already. Behringer FAIL.
