Looking forward to the frequency shifter!

Ouch, indeed! - Suddenly making the $3500 GRP V22 to be nearly half off, in price

Re: New gear from Moog, what would you like to see happen.?
Is this a hypothetical or did they say they're about to drop some new?
Re: New gear from Moog, what would you like to see happen.?
Due to new price of vocoders, I'm announcing a new currency based on their interior parts, which is obviously different than all other synthesizer circuits and components.
Approximate street price is relative to three Bitcoin. This new currency is called Vocodium.

$6000 vocoder. Moog obviously continues to make sound financial decisions.

I only watched one video of the Moog but still preferred the sound of the classic Roland vocoder based on that
Re: New gear from Moog, what would you like to see happen.?
This is what Moog is all about, charging more just because its Moog because there will always be people lining up to buy the expensive thing, just because its the expensive thing.
Enrico from GRP makes fine instruments, which are assembled by hand in Italy and yet the V22 is almost half the cash, sounds *much* better (judging from demos) and has more frequency bands.
Moog is just closing it self into the massively expensive niche...and rightfully so. I think its the only way for them to survive because they'll get slaughtered otherwise and, unfortunately (even if I have no soft spot for the brand), close down.

Re: New gear from Moog, what would you like to see happen.?
Everyone remembers how Moog was never known as an affordable brand right? The Model D was meant to help but it was still a big investment. I think it was $1200 which would be around $8000 today.

^ So didn't the model D actually make Moog the first company to offer an "affordable" synthesizer for the private individual?

I think it was supposed to be more affordable in contrast to the 10s of the 1000s of dollar rack synth.

has anyone heard any rumors about a Spectravox release? I somehow just became aware of this--it sounds radbut I'm not sure I could justify the really high price they are going for.

Re: New gear from Moog, what would you like to see happen.?
I've been thinking for a while that Moog should do a 'Mothers lIttle helper' type unit, aimed at being racked up in a 2, 3 or 4 tier Moog system as a complement to M-32s, DFAMs, Subharmonicons etc...
Lots of us have gone down the Eurorack route to do this, so I think a decent product from Moog could do well for them
maybe a unit with another osc ( switchable to LFO ) or indeed some more modulation sources,S&H, noise & quantizer maybe, a different filter (multimode ?) a mixer - maybe the CP3 type thing from the Grandmother - & some utlities - attenuverter, an extra EG or even some logic... throw in delay FX for good measure. A bit like the the old CP-15 but with more stuff & in this 60HP eurorack compatible format that Moog has been using since the Mother 32.
Maybe they could add power distro too with breakout leads to DFAMs, Mothers etc so you only have to have one line-lump or wall-wart PSU to run several tiers of Moog boats.
My eurorack kit has ultimately ( obviously
) taken a life of it's own now, so I'd definitely buy something like this if it was priced right to sit in a 3 tier rack along with my M-32 & SubH as a complete little stand-alone Moog set-up

Re: New gear from Moog, what would you like to see happen.?
I'd love to be able to buy Grandmother/Matriarch oscillators, mixer, and filters in a desktop unit. It would be great to mix and match these as separate modules, although I know Moog doesn't seem to want to go down this route. I suppose I could just buy a Matriarch, or a second Grandmother, but it's not an ideal solution for me. Of course they can't please everyone, but if we're talking about what we'd like...
Maybe a Mother-64 with external sync on each oscillator would be a good idea (although it might get cramped in the current format). What I don't like about the current Moog eurorack units is that the envelope generators are too limited.

This with the reverb and delay from the GM and Matriarch.Xmit wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 11:29 amI've been thinking for a while that Moog should do a 'Mothers lIttle helper' type unit, aimed at being racked up in a 2, 3 or 4 tier Moog system as a complement to M-32s, DFAMs, Subharmonicons etc...

Eurorack modules already... They’re sitting on the mother lode of modular legacy. Let the engineers free, would ya!!

Re: New gear from Moog, what would you like to see happen.?
When you are selling 5 figure modular systems, figuring out a way to sell low 3 figure modules without cannibalizing system sales is difficult.
Re: New gear from Moog, what would you like to see happen.?
Well said, galanter2!

Re: New gear from Moog, what would you like to see happen.?
Well it’s a different market for one. It’s not like the presence of a 300 oscillator is going to change the mind of someone seriously thinking about buying a system 15/35, etc... and on the flip side, the guy saving for the Moog vco/eg/amp eurorack modules is most likely not on the fence about dropping $$$ for the 5u system.
I think there’s room for both in the market. But maybe not room for both in their workshop.

@revtor
Yes. But there's a reason Toyota has its Lexus division. GM had Saturn. Volkswagon has Lambo. And on and on.
Maybe they should make Goom modules?

Hahah...these aren't really meant to be parallels, are they?
I mean, Lexus is the upscale of Toyota, Saturn was the budget of GM, and VW *owns* Lambo...
Toyota/Lexus, GM/Cadillac, VW/Bently...or Bugatti.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack this...that particular trio of examples just caught me.
Unless I'm missing a finer point?
