I wonder how that 8th wire -and possibly a 9th- is being used?
There is nothing that I have seen that says the 8th pin is being used, the blurb from Korg suggests they chose 8 pin DIN because replacement (or longer) 3rd party generic cables are then relatively easy to find and buy if required.

Sweetwater got an order of 2600s this week, but apparently I was not in the first batch even though I ordered in the first hour of them being listed as of 12AM EST on 1/10/20.

My account manager switched a couple weeks ago after having had the same manager for 8 years. I wonder if that’s why? My previous manager assured me that my spot was secured, while the new guy says he hasn’t heard anything.

I guess I have no choice to be patient. Hopefully it will still happen.

This is a recurring theme across the globe I guess. I was #2 from my dealer a few weeks ago, with end of March hoped, but naturally subject to the ongoing delays.

I’ve since seen others claiming to be #2 and #3 on Gear####z with the same dealer.

Who knows - as long as I get mine I’m cool.

I am in a similar boat. I ordered from SW on the 9th of Jan about an hour after they went live on their site. The next morning my rep called me and said I was one of the lucky ones because they had sold out by early that morning. It was estimated to arrive mid-March, then mid-April, and now early May. Oh well, it comes when it comes and I will be happy to have it.

It's only gouging if somebody buys it.
And if somebody buys it, then they're willing to pay the supposed gouging price.
Limited number of desired item equals higher price. That's not gouging, that's reality.

I don't have to agree with the price to know it's not my place to decide how much is too much.
That's between the buyer -if any- and seller.

seems as though it already sold. supply and demand.

you realize a lot of that "gouging" will be lost to the buyer due to the Reverb sales fee + newly instituted tax remissions? Reverb sellers now take hits as high as 13%.

that person made a profit of $500 max, best case scenario, if everything went smoothly.

supply and demand.
of course. it's just a little frustrating to see someone turn it over for a cash grab when so many wanted this thing and couldn't get their hands on it, got put on waiting lists, paid ahead and got booted from the list, etc...

that said, a lot's happened in the world since this was up for sale and delivered. never know what happened in the seller's life. sale may have been necessary.

Taxes are added to the ending sale price on Reverb, not taken from it. Tax is the responsibility of the buyer based on their shipping location.

At least wait until after 'virtual' SuperBooth 2020 next week. And There's something else coming later in the year, possibly as soon as May. CoVID-19 and its repercussions is still affecting new product rollouts.

I'm glad the BARP is taking so long to come out. The original was my first synth (in 1972 or so) and I have a strong nostalgic feeling for it. Always wanted one. But now my current Eurorack system is approximately 5X a 2600.

So I came to my senses. I'm not getting a BARP, even if it's a spot on sonic twin. Instead I have a Hydrasynth on order. It very nicely complements my Eurorack system. And that's it until I do so much recording that more is justified.

Anyone else in the UK ordered one from Gear4music?

I just got the "your item has been dispatched" email, inc courier confirmation for delivery tmrw 20th.

Looks like these are still being released into the wild, at least here in the UK, despite all the adverse conditions around global shipping/supply chain etc - altho I won't 100% belive it till the box is on my doorstep!

I'll let u know tmrw ;)

I put in word to my dealer on the 5th of January. Unfortunately, a slip-up occurred and I didn't get the order placed until late in the day on the 10th. I just had to wait to see if people would drop out of line or Korg would make more... Enough dropped to guarantee a place to get one as of about a week ago. I am a thrilled consumer. Now I just need to figure out where to put it.
Perhaps all pleasure is only relief.

Holy deep-fried monkey balls!!!!!

Well, it's here! Finally! Didn't have a chance to hook it up yet but i have to say, even just unpacking the thing, the whole package just screams quality.
It weighs about half a ton (seriously, with keyboard and synth both in the flight case it's a two man lift), the keyboard and synth each have their own hard carry-case case within the main flight case.
For anyone here complaining about value for money I'm looking at all this and thinking how the hell did they manage to sell all this for £3.5k (UK) and make a profit? It looks like it's worth twice that, easy. I've been making electronic music since the late 80s and have a bunch of hardware and I've never seen something like this in the synth world. Seriously. It's really something else.
If it sounds half as good as it looks and feels then it's a winner. Hats off to Korg on this one.

Congratulations!

I was starting to wish I had ordered from Gear4Music as I hadn't heard anything this week, but I've just had the "your item has been dispatched" email from Andertons, so it does feel like a few have hit UK retailers.

Roll on tomorrow!

Oh no - delivery cancelled?? What a wind up.

Hopefully just a temporary setback as 2600 FS's are apparently arriving to the UK... still can't quite believe my one actually made it... I do not expect you will be disappointed when you get yours, these are really very special.

Best of luck!
