Here's the Perfect Circuit stream with a Q&A with Ess Mattisson & Mario Hernandez from Elektron.

Picked mine up last night, ran it solo for a while on the couch before pairing it up with a Digitakt.

First night observations: looooads of fun. Getting a lot of different sounds and textures already. Really enamored with the Metal, Tone and Chord machines right off the bat. Love the reverb. Kicks are also pretty great and the low end feels very full overall, looking forward to seeing how they do with real speakers. I struggled with the Snare machine a bit - I'm picky about those, but have heard ones I've liked in other demos, so I'll just have to work a bit harder. Same goes with the Perc machine as well, spent the least time with that last night and is still a bit of a mystery.

Love how machine usage is flexible with every track and that you can change machine types per step if desired. I usually gravitate towards samplers for travel boxes and the Digitakt has held that spot for the last year and change, but I can see the M:C taking its place. Great little box.

Ordered from Sweetwater, eta there, next couple of days. Small size means I can add it to my To-go setup and use live on-air for The Dream Journal. A week from Saturday, then. Looks like FUN!

In europe some shops have it right now like gear4music. Musicstore/Thomann in a week or two. Cuttoff in Spain was getting some due today, I already ordered one.

It will pair my volca Drum, I wish midi tracks were polyphonic to sequence volca drum from it..I will just have to find a way..

New modular track! My first in six months. Messy and unglued.

Woah!-Full! and AWE-Full... in the original senses... but I guess the kids today just don't understand the weird music old people make.

Awesome stuff dude. I was wondering how well the Cycles and Lyra would collaborate. Sounds like the Lyra adds just the right amount of grit.

Mine should arrive today...too bad I’m on the road today :/
Really looking forward to giving it a spin.
Funny, through a dumb foul up I accidentally ordered two, from two different stores...oops. Two of em could be fun but I’ll likely return one of em :)

After considering its potential usage in my studio, I decided to order a Model:Cycles unit to supplement my other drum machine options: TR-8S, SP-16 and DrumBrute.

When I learned the EG controls are limited to decay time, I had a flash of insight that Elektron is really into assigning the LFO to the envelope to allow pseudo-control over attack. At this point it can't simply be an omission to irritate the haters, but a deliberate style choice. It's something that makes a hardware synth less appealing to me, though.

I bet people will make great music with this. Crazy cheap for what you get, despite my quibble.

I just received mine, very nice as a sketchbook. Really fun, but the Amp Env attack omission is a big mistake and enough not to buy it. Having to use the only LFO to provide attack is something I do not understand, even a two attack setting via menu( Something like fast/slow setting like DFAM) would make a big difference.

Polyphonic midi track would also be nice, in my case to sequence volca drum from it.

I was thinking of returning it because of the attack issue but after a few hours with it I have to say this thing is really fun to use. I hope they add the attack feature in a future update.

Got mine today! Cool little box. 8-) More functionality than I expected, like div/mult of tempo for each track. I quite like the sounds it can make too, especially the bass drum, the metal and the percussion machines.

I am planning on getting one. It seems like a great way to save a significant amount of space, and recover some of the cash I've spent on Eurorack gear in the past 2 years. Does that sound like a good reason to buy this hardware?

I bought a few Volcas a while back - FM and Kick - for the same purpose, but I could never gel with the FM's workflow (already sold it) and the Kick is just way too noisy and finicky to record with. It seems like Model:Cycles ticks both of those boxes and then some. It also seems like I could use 2 out of the 6 tracks just for sequencing my modular and get rid of some Euro sequencing tools.

I mean, to each their own.. but personally I downsized my eurorack last year from 12u to just 104hp and now spend most of my music time pairing a monosynth or two with an elektron box or two and can achieve results that make me happy in a fraction of the time it took in euroland.

If I didn't own a monomachine and machinedrum I would be all over the cycles.

And coming from euroland if you hate it, well.. you probably spent more last year on patch cables right? :hihi:
