I mean, to each their own.. but personally I downsized my eurorack last year from 12u to just 104hp and now spend most of my music time pairing a monosynth or two with an elektron box or two and can achieve results that make me happy in a fraction of the time it took in euroland.

If I didn't own a monomachine and machinedrum I would be all over the cycles.
It sounds like we are of the same mind in this regard. I definitely underestimated the amount of space it would take to do "everything" in eurorack - meaning 3-4 drum tracks and 2-3 additional tracks for bass, melody, etc - without severely sacrificing ergonomics. My little studio corner is too small for 12U (I'm at 10U currently). Going forward, I'd like to try using a solid drum machine/groove box for the "core" of most tracks, and leave 6U X 104HP worth of euro for more complex synth sounds, evolving drones, sample manipulation, etc.

And coming from euroland if you hate it, well.. you probably spent more last year on patch cables right? :hihi:
I mean, I just sold enough in unused modules in the last 2 weeks to buy 3 Model:Cycles, so yeah it's a pretty low risk investment for me at this point - And I have plenty more to get out of storage :cloud:

First effort in my drum machine rotation.

New modular track! My first in six months. Messy and unglued.

I am tempted to purchase one of these.

How hot do the outputs run? Does it run a similar level to the Digitakt and Digitone?

Thanks! It’s just the first few steps of a new track but I like the atmosphere and the kaleidoscope video turned out quite nice.

Can I send midi signal from CV to MIDI CC converter like ADDAC221 to Cycles?
http://www.addacsystem.com/en/products/ ... s/addac221
Then I can use euro modules to modulate Cycles...no?

If so, any recommendations besides ADDAC221?

Big Thanks!
Anyone tried yet?

I have not tried it but I do not see why it should not work. As long as you send the right CC it should respond to it.

I dont see any mention of glide or portamento in the manual. Is there any? Or would you use the LFO for this?
Seems like a sweet sounding box, with fun hands on control.

hi mine just arrived, been jamming with it
most of it seems intuitive but im wondering if it's possible to show the notes as for example c3,c5,c#4,e5,etc instead of a number between -24 and 24. if it's not possible im going to have to type out a chart which will be annoying.

When you are using the pitch knob, you mean? I don’t know but each trigger placed in the grid can be set to a specific note. Hold down the specific trigger and turn the data knob. The standard note is C5.

No. YOU must make that kind of music with this thing. Clearly.

I have no idea what these genres sound like, douchebaggy or not. Does this mean I'll be busting moves as a trapper-keeper/dubstepper? Cool! At this point in my life, I'm most likely to bust a hip WHEN moving. Cycles has to be an improvement.

i think that functionality is coming in a later version update. just buy some black hoodies and jam out until then. :hihi:

more on topic, i've never been interested in getting more than basic rhythms from drum machines - programming them isn't fun for me so i've been using a rhythm wolf for years (picked it up for $100.) this looks like a great step up for not a whole lot more cash.

A step equal to or lower than Rhythm Wolf simply doesn't exist. Congratulations ! :miley: :miley: :miley:

You get an LFO for every one of the 6 tracks' presets, I think. There's also the idea of "Machine Locks", where you can have an independent preset on each individual step of a pattern. I'm not sure if you are able to assign an independent LFO to each of those presets... but it would be a lot cooler if you could!

I just got mine about 24 hours ago, and have only had about an hour to play around with it, but I'm pretty happy with it so far. Sound quality is great. Build quality is insanely good for the price tag. It's my first Elektron box, so I need time to learn the sequencer. Other than that, damn it's easy to dial in good sounding percussion

Here's my only question so far (and it's a super-important one): Once you put the stickers on, do they come off clean? Or do they wreck the surface of the box?

Mine came yesterday check out my SoundCloud for more tracks. I made 7 yesterday.

I'm keeping the stickers in case of selling it
