I set aside MIDI gear some years ago when I fell in love with old fashioned cv /gate sync on new analog gear. My DFAM, Microbrute & Korg Volcas do well together. However, I have started to lust after some sexy Elektron gear, all the way back to the Monomachine, MD still a revered drum machine, etc etc. Wanted to get into FM, wanted more than another Volca but not quite to Digitone--enter Model Cycles. Need. But the sync specs are always so MIDI-centric. it has 3.5 mm trs MIDI and I do have the adapters that came with my unused Beatstep Pro, or MIDI in on microbrute & volca sample... but wondering, can the 3.5 mm on the Cycles be used for simple trigger clock sync as the 3.5mm i/o on my DFAM does? without involving MIDI?
No. That's a midi data input (per the manual!), and it will expect midi data (clock, note data, etc). Just because it's a 3.5mm input doesn't mean it can accept analog triggers/clock.
