Doepfer MCV24 - help with basic setup would make my day

Post by Analog Prophet » Mon Mar 23, 2020 4:51 am

I bought a Doepfer MCV24 to control my Roland System 100m from DAW, MIDI Keyboards etc. It's a little bit tricky learning threshold and the English manual isn't helpful with any examples.

I have CV connected to Out 1 and Gate connected to out 13 as described in the manual as a kick start. When I first hooked it up from my DAW and MIDI Keyboard it inverted the triggering (appeared like notes on as note of and vice versa). When not finding the parameters to change I did an initializing in hope to straight it out. Then no sound at all.

Then I tried to recall a preset but apperently it messed it up and it was stucked with 'Warm Booth when restart the device". Read earlier somewhere about, and remembered, holding down the there push buttons at the front while booting from a user with that issue and it worked.

Are there any MCV24 users here around who can just help me to simple explain how to basic set it up so that I can have a working CV and Gate to my System 100m? It would make my day.

Don't have one, but a quick look in the manual lead to Trigger Level Off as a possible culprit for you inverted gates.

Thank you Rigo!

I found a page I missed when searching for help: http://notebook.zoeblade.com/Doepfer_MCV-24.html. I downloaded a SysEx file there and the preset 'MultiTrk' made the setup play again, this time in a right way for the setup. A link to http://www.doepfer.de/pub/mcv24/mcv24download.htm (couldn't find that when visited Doepfher website) but just in German. The German user manual seams to be more extensive.. but just if one understand German.

The preset memories at my MCV24 contained just garbeage letters before loaded the Sysex file, maybe a sign of battery replacement needed... I'll wait and see before order any batteries and warm up the iron to solder (don't like such things).

My most urgent problem is solved. But still, I have problems to understand how to setupas the manual doesn't give any example. Any MSQ24 user here around that can make a basic explanation with some examples.
