Surprised the Yamaha DX1 doesn't have more fans. It was a thing of beauty, or the mighty Yamaha GX1. I think only 140 DX1's were built, which makes a good one like unobtanium now. Just as well it sounds identical to a DX5.

I'm not surprised. The GX1 and DX1 are super impressive, but disproportionate beasts aesthetically.. In my humble opinion obviously. :miley:

DX5? Now we're talkin'!

I need a stand just like that for my Synthi, do you know what stand that is?
That's the Konig & Meyer 17580 A "Heli" guitar stand if I am not mistaken.
The Heli 2 is slightly different but not sure if there's any difference in angle/which dimensions fit. Going by pictures it looks the same in those respects.
I use a Heli 2 for mine. Any changes must be minor. Beautiful pair you have!

Yes, definitely!
I ordered mine with black-only knobs, which adds to its beauty IMHO.

The Nonlinear Labs C15 is a thing of beauty, too - but only in its dark-wooden version, which I have.
The lighter-wood version looks a bit like German 70s school furniture by Casala, but that's probably a matter of taste.

Cheers,
Bert

And the OB12. I have a thing for blue synths.

the UDO Super-6 in blue is another good example

one of the reasons Buchla synths were originally appealing precisely because they were cheaper than moog, and you could probably trade drugs for them.

The blue on those synths give me a real Tape-Deck vibe for some reason. Beautiful stuff!

Here you go!

I can understand that thing for blue synths. At the moment I have a blue SH-101 (which was my first synth after the Poly-800), a blue SH-01A, an AN1x and a Meeblip Geode - and the '14 of course. Oh, and my favourite buddha box (which I regularly use live) is also blue...

Cheers,
Bert

Classic and classy. Forgot how closely the One resembles the Memorymoog in terms of visual design.

From a purely aesthetics standpoint I'm partial to Folktek designs. I find them overpriced for what they are but that's OOT.

I realise that aesthetics are subjective but there are very few synths on this thread that I would consider remotely attractive, despite the desire for some of them. I mean, no doubt an MPC is an iconic instrument and a customised one can be a lovely thing, but beautiful? I'm not sure.

Anyway, here is my humble submission.

While probably a pain to programme, this looks gorgeous to me. If I was a player this is what I would want in my living room.

Edit, inspired by this image, I just did a search for DX5s and now think this photo is particularly flattering. Viewed from directly above, the top panel is not as clean as it looks in this photo.

Not a bad idea. Personally though, I like the Sledge just fine as it is. It has a 70s science fiction vibe, with the Data 70 font, and those rounded plastic edges.

Surprised Clavia hasn't been mentioned. Lovely red colour and overall design.

However, here's my favorite. Perhaps not beautiful but those oversized position markers, the chickenheads, the big regular knobs, the primitive font...

There's something vulgar about it in a very pleasing and darn good looking way

Not just the look that is beautiful Strettara! Isn't Nonlinear Labs a venture from one of the guys who founded Native Instruments?

Edit: To answer my own Q; Yes, it's Stephan Schmitt. Here's an interview for those who are interested. https://bigbrainaudio.com/2012/03/news/ ... he-future/
