Other than the already mentioned Model D (timeless modern vibes) and Sonic Six:

I love the whole CS-50/60/80 line. From the scale, to the materials chosen, to the color palette that mirrors my Trident console’s, I think these designs are the pinnacle of synth visual aesthetic.

My other favorites are the Roland SH-09/2/1, the Yamaha CS-5/10/15/30, and the Korg MS-10/20/50, all of which share a similar aesthetic. None of these synths would look out of place in the original Alien film universe, and they all share an understated and highly utilitarian sort of look that best typifies golden-age Japanese synthesizers, at least in my mind. It’s like they crossed the decidedly spartan interior of a 1979 Porsche 911 with a home computer of the same vintage, and the result is magic.

I just realized - this simple theremin like synth is quite a nice looking 'box' to behold...

My 40 year old Korg MS10.

After that, a CS80.

To be honest I can't regard a synth as beautiful unless it sounds as well as looks beautiful, and is a joy to program and play.

Hence my two choices.

I have a penchant for this one:

This, and a Prophet 5 -- just so sleek and elegant.

I wish there were more synths with the reverse keyboard color designs.

At first I thought this was a necrobump of an older nearly identical thread. But it's new. So I'll add what i put in the last one:

Easily the most beautiful synthesizer ever created. Hard to choose only one of the Behringer synth for this because they're all perfect, but it takes the cake!

Probably the Korg Minilogue PG. If they'd do that with the XD and its blue lights, it would look even better.
If you have an original MI Rings panel you're willing to part with, please PM me.

weird: most of the images in this thread I get this message "The selected attachment does not exist anymore." even though they are recent posts?

anyway, I always liked the ARP 2600

or any 5U modular setup:

I especially like the black tolex Moog models: 15, ! P, II P, III P

Image

they did a black tolex Voyager XL which was cool:

but the original wood one looks great too:

They do show when viewing on mobile (both Android and iOS) for me, but they don't in Chrome on my laptop..

To me....Yamaha CS-80 and Waldorf Wave.

YAMAHA VL7 + MOOG ONE would make a nice pair (both aesthetically and sonically).

Of the ones I own,
The Sync II with it's mahogany case has to be one of the better looking digitals. Covered in shiney red candy like buttons that light up.

The late 60's Moogs just had that futuristic vibe and tone.

No four voice here, but threw together a custom three voice. Wood is good!

If we are going for a simple black keyboard synth, I'll offer up the Akai AX80. The little bar graphs to show parameter settings really makes this beautiful.

Great you posted this. It certainly was stunning, the more so back in the day. It was so good that I instantly fell in love and bought one. Sadly, after a couple of months intense struggle I decided it sounded weak and thin so quickly sold it.

I had a Jupiter-6 for a long while but well thought out as it was I never liked the color scheme. Friend had a Jupiter-8 and I thought that looked awful with its colored tabs. The MS-20 I liked but a bit messy. I had a few digital synths but I couldn't say any of them looked good because they usually lacked knobs. A synth without knobs or sliders is a sad, sorry thing.

So my vote probably goes to my first synth, a Korg Mono/Poly. Nothing striking in the design, but compact, functional, nice colors, and the right amount of blinking lights. The other one I always thought of as "the classic synth", but at the time was way out of my price range, was the Prophet-5.
