A very recent leak of the upcoming sq64 sequencer also showed a mini 2600.
I’ve brightened up the original picture so it shows better.

The 2600 reissue trend in 2020 taken as a whole - yes.

The Korg is probably worth more just for the looks. I'm sure both companies know how to get them sounding good.

Ohh, while that mini 2600 looks cool, it's that sequencer that I really want to know about...

That’s exactly why I created this thread; To kick discussion about this thing out of the sq64 thread.

Aye, sadly my ability to read multiple threads at once isn't what it was
(Also, I was slightly more excited by the pic of the mini-2600 before I realised that was purple lighting, not a purple 2600.. shallow? Moi?)

When I was 10, a guy came to my school and played a 2600 and I remember thinking it was the wildest and strangest thing I'd ever witnessed -- began my fascination with synthesizers/electronic music. So part of me is kind of interested in the mini version since I've never played a 2600 and would love to play around with it. It might be a question of exact dimensions and price for me.

Can you link to that thread so I can go let them know about the mini 2600?

It appears to be just over two Volcas wide, that famous SI unit
I'd love to see it come in at a sensible price- if I had to guess, I'd say £699-£799 of my local currency units* though. That could be a little steep for an impulse purchase of something I arguably don't
need here, just sort of want. Obviously Behringer is is the elephant in the room here, if they price it too high.
*Depending on how badly the populist shitshow trashes the currency and ability to import next year.

It looks like they used 30mm Sliders and not 45mm (TTSH)

To be honest, if a real 2600 is anything like the Arturia plug-in, it's not for me. I just can't get into it.

It's the one from arturia that really sounds weak to me. There was this thing called "timewArp" ages ago that was so much better... 32bits only.

The mini 2600 looks like Korg is doing a 'boutique' 2600.
I like the Roland boutique range for their convenience and sound (and price), but the pixie faders on the JP-08 are a bit of a trial.
Being short on space I would be interested in a mini 2600 as long as tweakabilty has not been sacrificed for its compact footprint.

Oh that korg looks great actually. Its going to come down to if either of them 2600's nail the filter. I'm really hoping korg having the original schematics etc to work from can get it closer although i guess in todays world a schematic doesn't mean much to these companies who just reverse engineer from a working model? I would guess?
Would holding the original schematic really help?

Not a 2600 fan generally speaking (not worth the space imo), but will probably buy one of these just to have around, as long as the internals don't differ too much from the FS

Speaking of software alternatives, now Cherry Audio has one - for 25$! -

For live improvisation a tiny 2600 might be just the thing. Easy to carry/move. For live stuff all those sliders are helpful.

The BLM7200 looks like a fun apparatus (to me) for your campervan.
In terms of size/usability, Behringer did do a good job on their rendition of the 2600 I think..

If anything. I’d want larger faders for live use. Or pots that are not obstructed by patch cables. This mini one looks like a fun noodling device for sure, hope they get the sound right.

Eyeballing it I'd say it looks about 2 1/2 to 2 2/3 Volcas wide. A Volca is 19.3 cm so I estimate 48 cm to 52 cm wide (18.9" to 20.5")
Cute!

Volca should be an official unit of measure of the gearhead measurement system. Imperial? Metric? No thank you.

Haha!
The next unit up could be a 'Roland Boutique' and the next unit down could be a 'Pocket Operator'

I like the idea of the BLM2700, but not that it is fully modular. I like the default routing of the 2600 and Odyssey (and my 'Bodyssey'). Maybe I'm just getting lazy......
