Seeing this next to a MS20 mini I am less worried about the form factor than I was when they first hinted at a mini 2600. 1/8 inch jacks and 30 mm sliders are both alright by me

Extreme GAS over this ! I couldn't justify the price and size of the full size re issue, but as the 2600 is my ultimate dream synth I would be super happy to get one of those smaller one. I hope they kept a real spring reverb inside tho.

Probably the most contradictory statement I’ve come a cross on Muffs in all these years.

Not sure which one I’m more excited about, the mini 2600 or that sequencer! :sb:

I think because “Dream synth” means something you need no justification for, something you’d save and sell off for. Something you might even clear a shelf for.

Mini looks cool but 30mm sliders are a major downgrade from full size

The 30mm slider size is a speculation for now.

yeah - I think that's a fair point... I mean, that's exactly what I did with the 2600 FS : I just had to get one.

Ah, yes. If you assume that if you dream of something only that thing itself will fulfill the dream and nothing compares.

We are facing a dangerous 2600 pandemic. I propose we lock down all synthesizer manufacturers until the situation returns to one version a year.

Well... I see what you guys mean here, I guess what I meant is that it is one of those synth I have always wanted to own one day in my life. Meanwhile I can't sell most of my equipment because I either teach with it or work with it everyday, and I don't see myself doing mastering for other people with only a 2600 ;-)
Joke aside I'd still love to try out one of those mini Korg version.

So using the photo and my own Korg Mini MS-20, I took various ruler measurements trying to allow for perspective in the photo, and came up with this…

Total width of unit = 19 inches (!)

Apparent slider travel (ie length of slot) = 38.5 mm

I wouldn't stake my life on these. I'm pretty confident of the total width, but because of the vagaries of perspective the slider travel could well be off. (Especially since sliders I've found online seem to be 30 mm or 45 mm and nothing in-between.)

EDIT: I'm now thinking the slot is probably longer than the actual travel, so that would be 30 mm sliders with a few mm's on both ends of the slot extra.

Rackmountable does feel fairly logical, at least.

I did the same, and came up with the same answer :yay:

As i did the calculations, thought how cool it'd be to have the 2600 mini sitting atop the MS-20 mini! :hyper:

(MS-20 mini w/endcaps is 19-7/16" wide)

Could the faders be 42mm like the Odyssey desktop?

That's encouraging. 😀 I was quite alarmed by how small they looked initially. I'm quite happy with my Odyssey desktop faders. The module is (IIRC) just a bit over rack width. It would be interesting for someone to recreate the photo with an Odyssey desktop and an MS-20 mini to see how the proportions look. I'm afraid I don't have anything with Korg minikeys.

*Shudders.

Finders crossed on the faders being a decent size!

FWIW my measurements were made based on the size of the MS-20 Mini I have. I believe the K2600 Mini is designed for 19” rack compatibility. I would be surprised if the sliders are 42 mm, but it’s possible I was off by a few mm.

Thanks for putting my mind at rest. Up until the weekend I was considering a second Odyssey. A 2600 should do instead... 🤣 I think it's the perfect synth for me. It's one of those "if I could only have one" synths.

if not it's awfully close, going by eyeballing with the "Volca unit" measurement. perhaps they wanted to do similar to Beh's rack-able offering, but give you the option of having it in the Tolex case as well.

looking at my 2600 with a piece of rack-able gear in front of it... it's crazy to think if they actually kept the same layout and shrunk it down to 19". Beh got away with it because they moved the Preamp down to the bottom. they also added a PWM slider and all four waveform outputs for OSC3, so that takes some space. but not nearly as much as the Preamp takes. of course, they have a little extra space on both sides before the controls start, whereas Korg's controls are right up to the edge (it appears). I dunno... I'm torn if it's truly 19" or not... :hmm:

Perhaps it's a collaboration with Arturia and inside is a 2600V :hihi:
