Managed to buy a 1937 Kemble piano at auction (literally for less than the cost of a single module)
Just have to wait a few weeks for it to acclimatise before getting it tuned…

Image

The wood grain was what caught my eye at first - I figured someone building a piano very carefully selecting and bookmatching the wood to this degree would reflect well in the entire build of the piano, and I was right… Any opinions on the wood type? I first thought it might be walnut, but a friend commented maybe it is rio mahogony

post tuning plans:
attach a pair of contact mics, and/or DPA4060s
to Space echo + Hologram Infinite Jets + TC Flashbackx4 looper/delay

Amazing to think this piano travelled UK > NZ and patiently waited 83 years to arrive to my studio

It's nice that it already comes with its own psychedelic album cover for when you run it through a tape delay, Leslie, and gallons of reverb

Seriously, drool.

That is indeed a cool stand! Would you mind posting a link to where you bought it, or to info on the particular model?

Hmm, wasn't aware of that, think I've done so in the past, but may have been before the forum changed over.
Anyway, thanks, searching item# worked fine. Looks good-cheap too-will probably grab one.

I have a similar stand. Works perfectly with my new Lyra 8.

Also picked up the EHX Ring Thing - blown away by the sounds this makes, and I appreciate the stereo outs.

I always wanted to add an AR-329 Phase/Flange module to my Aries rig back in the day. But by the time I could afford one, the company was out of business. :waah: Thanks to NonLinear Circuits, it lives again! A good opportunity to A: blow some cash at the Synthcube weekend sale, and B: get some more SMD experience. Plus, I see Mouser has the original Aries-style knobs, so I think I'll grab some of those and try to fab up an Aries 3" x 9" panel for it, so it won't feel awkward next to the others. :zombie:

That's beautiful. Yamaha seems to have finally eliminated the Kemble name following the transfer of UK production to Asia.

Spring is here!
(... in fact with a lot of snow and rain!)

Black Spring Reverb - with internal (and optional external) spring tank, and some noisy feedback effects - a lot to explore!
