I've sold and re-acquired the Lyra twice now. It's a one trick sort of pony, but sure does that trick well. It's just so much of a character, and a modern day classic too. Try running the bassline through it and see what type of chaos you get out of it.

As for me I picked up one of these.

Got it for $250 from BH Photo. Such a wonderful recorder. Feels great, looks great, and sounds unbelievable. The mics are amazing, and allow you to record in surround sound. I've been using it to record my walks with my son, grabbing random conversations and field sounds. I also use it to record my little hardware jams I do to practice live performances. One 32gb SD can record something like 48 hours of high quality sound, which is almost comical as I can't see myself ever capturing, and then listening to that much. Great purchase
what line inputs does it have? xlr / 1/4" combos? i've gotten so used to recording my single 1/8" input on my old olympus, i'm not sure how my setup would change if i upgraded.. one of the two mics died, so i've got my eye out for a replacement recording device. i don't do field recordings often, but i'd like to have a stereo image again.

I'm about to go pick up a TipTop One from the post office, which means I have to dust off my old Zoom H4 recorder and I guess I also have to start monoizing my old field recordings.

Edit: general gear, oops.
Well, I'm waiting for an oscilloscope, an old Leader I'm hoping will quench my Data thirst.

It does indeed have combo inputs.

Pretty nifty analogue delay, a bit reminiscent of a Volvo in terms of build quality (pre-China days, of course):

To me, it's a good deal nicer than a Yamaha E-1010.

2nd pre-order in the month: Dreadbox Typhon. It looked right up my alley from 80's stuff. I think the ONLY thing I'll miss is a clock input so the sequencer could work with my semi-modulars.

Also got word that my Noodlebox Serendipity Sequencer arrives Thursday! So far a decent birthday month for someone staying away from most other people (which is difficult for me as I am an extrovert).

WOOT! The Noodlebox arrived from the UK today! AND I got word from Detroit Modular my Subharmonicon shipped today as well... What a fab day! I'll be playing around with some stuff this weekend. Been wanting to pull out the 0-Coast again, so maybe that the Noodlebox, and the Sismo Samba. I expect it will be next week before I see the Subharmonicon, but if it arrives in time....

This got great reviews, I bought one about a year ago or so.

Most beaters for cowbells have a limited life. Especially because on the low-tone strike, the beater must hit exactly the sharp metallic edge of the bell at the mouth.

Image

Most beaters are made of wood, so they splinter and wear very fast. Covering the beater with electrical tape helps protect it, but it's not great as it changes the sound.
So I got the LP269 Duro beater below, made of a proprietary synthetic fiber-reinforced polymer. Over twice as expensive as wooden beaters, It's supposed to be much more resistant, virtually indestructible.

I didn't buy anything, but I did get my Ripples back, all fixed with a new cutoff pot- and a bunch of nice things in the box, including a load of those lovely Mutable Instruments patch cables. Feels like Christmas, my smaller system that was missing a filter/VCA is viable again.

It was a really positive experience, Émilie was incredibly on-point, friendly and helpful. That topped off a shitty week in a pleasant manner. Looking forward to some small system fun again.

Jaspers Rack - ordered Sunday night, arrived from Germany by Wednesday. Definitely makes me open to ordering more from Thomann, I expected 2 weeks or more.

Debating a four-legged standing desk for my 'studio' desk (and also my actual work desk) - they only come with a 30" wide top so I'd also have to get a 36" deep butcher block maybe. Then it becomes a question of having room on top to move stuff around with a keyboard or building a piano drawer.

finally!
the MEK patches I made in 2012 are nutso in poly :hyper:

when it was my turn for the night shift when my son was an infant, I would sit with the MEK and program patches, watching for him to wake up and cry to be fed!... sentimental sounds I guess

“ham time” is a solid patch in poly

IK Multimedia Uno. What can I say, I thinks it’s pretty cool for a budget monosynth.

Damn synthCube and their 15%-off sales. Every time, I tell myself I'm only gonna stock up on some parts, and every time I wind up ordering a module kit. This time it's the Frequency Central Continuum Phaser II. I am a child of the '70s, so I do loves me some phase shifters.

EDIT: Yikes that's HUGE, sorry.

I like the swish & swoosh labelling....

My Subharmonicon arrived today (a little late from earlier USPS info), and I think I'll set aside some time tomorrow to play with it.

A paper manual! I do love a hands on manual...

So this is my second Moog after my Liberation that I bought around 1989. Can't wait to try both together...
