I like having a few pieces of gear - I am the opposite of a gear hoarder - so if you wanna put :75: on it we can see who wins out in the end. Plus my wife buys gear too (and is far more accomplished as a musician than I am) so if I get her a mono does that count??? :hihi:

Sent in my 4075 to get updated over 3 months ago and now no response to emails or anyone picking up the phone at SE... Honestly I kind of expected this to happen and didn't want to send it in but they suggested it.

Haven't seen this reported anywhere but these look to have gotten a re-fresh? Up for pre-order at Perfect Circuit (where this image is from).

That's odd, there's nothing on the SE site about these at all.

This is possibly the most tragic synth demo video ever made. I thought it was a parody when I watched it but it seems it is for reals.

enjoy!

You should call them. They will take care of your right away. Seriously. For some reason, they work like that. Your 4075 must've been put aside. But if you call them, I'm sure you'll have your Boomstar in a week.

Done that before. I messaged them on fb again and they said they would take care of it tomorrow so we'll see.

Just got a 2017 SEM and it has strange triggering behaviour from MIDI keyboards; every key has to be completely released before a new one will trigger. It doesn't do this over CV/gate.

Is this MIDI characteristic a known issue with the Boomstars and, if so, is there a firmware fix? It's a real problem with my playing style. I note rjungemann upthread says the B*'s MIDI performance is predictable, but this is not what I expected.

@Licudi I'm not sure about the new ones, but mine definitely plays legato like you'd expect over MIDI. What are you using to control it?
My modular (ModularGrid). Check out my new synth-pop album, Umbram.

Hmmm, that's interesting, thanks. I've controlled it with a KeyStep and an old Evolution Mk-149 so far; no legato with either.

Edit: Just tried it with a Roland A-01K and PC-180A. Same behaviour so unlikely to be a controller issue. Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

Also if you don't figure it out, email Studio Electronics, they got back to me same day when I had a question.

The new boomstars took a big price hike with pretty minor improvements other than slightly different filters. They were already getting pretty pricey at $1050 (they were less when they came out), now mk2s are $1400.

They mk1s are amazing synths but not sure who is going to be paying $1400 for these.

Boomstar v1s are dropping in price it seems lately. kinda amazing how some synths are falling in price vs. others.

I loved my SE ATC-1. One of the best sounding analog synths I’ve ever owned. I’d be curious to know if the Boomstars sound similar.

Word is that the Boomstars are better. If it wasn't for import taxes to the EU I'd have been very tempted, but they're expensive to begin with.

Here is a Boomstar 3003 for $450. Sounds more like a System 100 than a TB303 clone, tons of timbre to explore. Even with shipping, $450USD is a steal

Curious if anyone is still enjoying or have added any Boomstars to their collection. I love my SE80 and have picked up a 4075 because I like the SE80 so much. really powerful little boxes with a ton of knobs for the size..
