One thing, if someone can help: maybe I’m blind but where is the audio in module ? And what is back ground audio? Probably obvious but I’m not really a Mac person, ha.
No audio input yet, but it’s supposed to be coming soon in an update. Along with a few other missing features and more modules.

Background audio allows sound to play from the app while using other apps. So you can surf Muffs while your patch is running in the background. :guinness:

cool- got ya, thank you. Thought it was just me...anyways, audio in, seems like a strange omission but look forward to the next update!

If you scroll back in this thread, I posted a quote from the developer regarding version “1.0” of miRack and his basic roadmap for coming updates.

But yeah, audio in is a must. Along with support for inter-app audio, Audiobus, multitouch, etc.

Even still I’m super impressed with the development so far :sb:

yeh i saw that - thanks for posting up the info -but wasn't sure on the terminology for audio in. Gets confusing with modular terminology and simple things, ha.

mirack has now been updated, yippie.

On a side note: its great to see the developer putting in the mutable instruments alt firm warez with the touch of a finger (two fingers).
I have opened a ticket requesting: beez in the trees, stages harmonic osc, , Two-bumps for tides, Warps Parasite, Frames Parasite, braids Renaissance.

Hopefully we get these as i gather its rather a simple process.

Addendum to sempervirent's post - see https://community.vcvrack.com/t/postmor ... nsing/6253

After reading that I cannot consider use mirack except to play around with occasionally. I'll probably eventually delete it, unless a better arrangement comes about. Also, having used the real deal vcv rack since the very beginning, using mirack is a huge letdown - very few of the modules I know and love are in it.

I think this is a real shame it’s turned out his way.

For me iOS provides a much better interface for what VCV does. And I’ve found MiRack a great way to work on patches whilst on the go.

Assuming the 3 parties can’t reach an accommodation then I hope VCV can find a way to make the move to iOS (perhaps some Kickstarter style funding or something).

The situation has been resolved. As of version 1.51 the Fundamental modules have been removed from miRack. There are comparable substitute modules available and existing patches will continue to function.

Thanks for the update. I saw that recent version, and wondered if the change was in response to you. I hope the resolution was relatively amicable.

Very hopeful for this program. Just started on it and am suitably lost in it, being my first fully modular experience, but even I can see the enormous potential that this holds for the ios platform.

Glad to see problems being sorted and things cooling down and a brighter future.

This runs way better on my old ipad than VCV runs on my super duper desktop. I much prefer the touch interface. Hopefully more module devs commit to miRack.

Anyone successfully hooked up miRack with an Expert Sleepers ES-9 yet? I have managed to get my ES9 working great with VCV Rack as VCV Rack has a dedicated Audio(CV) "input / output" unit for up to 8 separate inputs and outputs, but I haven't spotted anything similar in miRack??

Completely agree! I made the same experience. It runs perfectly on my 2017 standard ipad.
I recorded two little screenshot videos this week. miRack pulls me back into modular.

I got a new ipad recently (7th gen) and this is the first app I bought (I already had several apps I purchased for my older ipad, 5 or 6 years ago). Just bought it blindly. Can't wait to play with it.

AFAIK, mirack doesn't work with usb audio yet, so it won't work with any usb audio interfaces.

Not a problem for me, to be honest. I'll just use it as a closed system (as I often use my other modulars) and record from the built-in audio output.

MiRack should work with any audio interface that works on iPad and iPhone. The interface should be MFI, or class compliant.

Sorry, yes-- usb works for output (though it seems to be 2 channels only), but I don't think there's any way to get audio into miRack?

So at the moment you can't use it for round tripping audio through ES8 or ES9.

FOSS software always ends up a clusterfuck, doesn’t it? I refuse to support either project at this point. Feels like I’ll be wrong with whoever I would give me money to. Guess hardware has its share of drama too, though.

there is an audio in module. I haven't tried it yet with an interface, but it's Core Audio, so it should work with ES-8 and ES-9.
