Gibberwocky question

Post by j_dowe » Mon Nov 11, 2019 5:28 pm

I'm looking at Gibberwocky and trying to understand how it works.

What I'm uncertain about is:
Does the MIDI environment work with anything that will receive MIDI? Or does it only work with Ableton and/or Max?

You need to have virtual MIDI cables set up, on Mac there is IAC , on Windows you need to install something like looomidi or loopbe.

Also, seems the browser may block MIDI in non-https sites (like gibberwocky).

Chrome blocks what they deem "powerful features" (currently location, camera, microphone, notifications, background sync, MIDI, clipboard, and payment handlers as shown in the permissions on Chrome 69) on non-HTTPS sites.
I tried the "chrome://flags/#unsafely-treat-insecure-origin-as-secure" workaround and it worked here.

(I going to disable it though, as I'm a Ableton user and it doesn't feel safe.)

[edit: ] But yeah, it is common MIDI, it works with anything MIDI.
