recording app for whatevers playing on yr computer

Post by Severed head » Wed Dec 25, 2019 9:02 am

hey friends,
just wanted to see if anyone had a MAC app recommendation for an app that will record/grab what ever audio is playing on your computer,
from the machine, not from speaker (like Quicktime)

I used to have a few of the common ones but updated computers few ago and cant recall the names and the one I still have dont work right on my machine.

I have audio hijack but haven't loaded it up yet, as I wanted to hear what other options you fine folks might suggest as my friend said AH works but he didn't care for it, and we have a close taste in apps and such as we collaborate a lot.

thanks

Audio Hijack by Rogue Amoeba should fit the bill... :tu:

Or if that doesn't suit you maybe you could try their Loopback app. and record into your DAW.

I use Audacity to capture audio from Youtube etc, and it can do lots of things for sample editing and whatnot. I'm on PC and it just requires i pick the correct source in the preferences menu.

Audio Hijack is really full featured and probably exactly what you want. I like it because I can be recording my brother's radio show that's playing in Itunes, and doing other stuff at the same time that produces sound and there's no problems. I don't know what your "friend" has against it - maybe legit issues, but contempt prior to investigation isn't a very strong argument though. The rogue amoeba guys are really good at keeping the app updated to work with each version of the mac os, so as long as you keep it updated it'll work.

If I recall he just says it was a little tricky to get the settings right (but I could be confused with another one)
sounds like one I should try as I have it DL'd already.

really just looking to snag some live concert recordings form sites I cant find good downloaders for. (particular some radio stations and the typical vid sites)

thanks for chiming in friends.
