DIY Midi breakout (not kit) for EX

Post by Doublecoolbossman » Tue Jun 30, 2020 10:57 am

I'd like to try to make din midi in and out tiles for my new EX. Partly because kits are sold out everywhere, and partly because tiles would save a bit of hp.
I thought it would be as simple as connecting the pins on the pcb to the pins on din midi jacks according to what is specified in the manual for the breakout, but I haven't had success doing it this way.

Am I way off here or what?

No, that's all you need to do. Just wire up two sockets.

Weird. Everything is working on other devices, but i can't get anything to show up in midi history (or any evidence of it working in the moment). Do I only have to make the 4 connections?

I had a similar issue making a diy breakout for my disting iv, but it turned out i was just looking at the midi jack backwards and so i had the pins connected the wrong way

Yes.

There's a "Test MIDI out" menu item, which will just sit there and output MIDI.
