Just picked up an mk3 to keep my mk1 company.
Played around at Control Voltage in Portland with only the tape delay and went with that over the Echophone, loved it!!!! Didn't think anything could change my mind, but now I'm realizing the power of two of these babies. Just gotta remember the settings....but that's literally the only downfall to these amazing modules.
Thanks so much for all your hard work. I really love my mk1...use it all the time. Super stoked to think of what I can accomplish with the mk3 and its many advances over the mk1...but I don't think I can sell the mk1!!!!

disting- 3.3 sample playback

Post by mpl » Fri Mar 11, 2016 2:18 pm

Hi
I've just updated to 3.3 and as far as i can tell every thing went ok.
but if i leave the card in( to access samples) It boots up to a "frozen state" i.e. no controls do anything
leds
The second row down both lit
third row down the second one lit
fourth row first led lit.
and it sometimes reboots itself back to this state
If i boot up with out the card in all seams fine.
The card that has the samples on it also has the firmware on it as well.Is this ok?
Also does it support mono samples?
mike

Thanks for the replies, I had named the samples wrongly and so were not seen.renamed and everything seams to be working.
Not sure what sdhc is, I assume it's a card formatt.
Also I assume that when in sample playback mode the rest of distings functions are unavailable.
Thanks again for replies
Mike

just got my disting and I'm having trouble updating the firmware from 3.1 to 3.3. I checked and my card is definitely fat32. Any ideas?

FAT16 might work, but what's stopping you formatting it to FAT32?

I get the 'no firmware found' message (3 and c blinking). It's a pretty old card, could that have something to do with it?

thanks!

osx disk utility formats this particular microSD in FAT16 i don't have a choice. option just MS-Dos (FAT). All my other SDcards automatically get formated in FAT32. dunno, maybe the microSD is not capable. but since its my only micro one, hence the question. it's from Zoom H4n recorder. thx for the quick answer.

@de_Adi I would just try it in the disting. You'll soon find out whether it works or not.

@wejhead Hard to tell. All my testing has been with nice new SDHC cards, since I don't have a stack of old ones around - I've never needed them before. If you can stretch to it a new card would be worth a try.

So as far as I can tell I am following the firmware update instructions to the letter and yet my disting consistently can't find firmware on my card. If I plug my card into my computer there IS the firmware on it, so I have no clue. Any help with this, please?

I wonder if you are having the same funny issue as me: I saved the firmware download to my Mac, then loaded it onto the SD card. For some reason, saving it to the computer turned the .hex file into a hex.txt file (though it still looked like a .hex file, i.e., it didn't say that it was a .txt file, but the icon was a for a .txt file), and therefore not the same thing at all!

So I downloaded it directly to the SD card and it worked fine.

On Mac, do Command+I, and check the Name & Extension field. That will show you whether OS X has appended some random extension.

I usually put the downloaded zip file on the SD card, then unzip it in place (i.e. just double click on it on OS X).

Got my hands on a different micro sd card and the update worked perfectly. Loving all the new features! :sb:
