Yay, MIDI! I've been getting a lot of use out of the built-in sequencers on MI Edges and wishing that other units had that feature. Now, they can!

Nice one. Looking forward to playing with the MIDI playback modes. Looks like it's finally time to get an SD card extender cable.

It's fully documented in the manual.

After 3.4 update can't select banks

Post by twinesound » Tue Jun 14, 2016 7:26 pm

After 3.4 update can't select banks

The S knob does not function as expected with the mini sd inserted. I want to run my midi files, but I press 'S' and when I move to '2' to change banks the LED goes dark.

Bug or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

From the manual:
When not in an SD playback mode (i.e. when using banks 1-a to 1-d), but with an SD card still in the slot, the following apply:
* LEDs 2 & b will not light.

Edit. Another case of D3 not liking a card. Bought a new one and it worked. I guess best practice would be to buy a fresh card with your Disting Mk3!!

os, would it be possible to make the sample player to work like this:

A sample is only played if no sample is currently playing (and a trigger is also received - obviously we want the next sample to play in sync).

I have (had) the Ladik ROM-player and it works like this, with a jumper you can make it either play the whole sample or "stops playing at gate ends (jumper set)" (Ladik's description)

I think a mode like this would be far more optimal for drums than to have samples who are often cut off (when for example using CV to the "Z" input to randomly change samples).

That would be a good addition, indeed.

Another thing i was thinking, would it be possible to make the playlist for samples to be longer than 32? Just the playlist itself? Would be nice to be able to do variations in it that extends over 32.

E.g first you would have samples 0-32 like normal, 33-65 is a variation with the samples in a completely different order, or with all snares removed and replaced with instances of hihats (or whatever). This way you would have even more ways to experiment with beats.

Os... do you take suggestions for features?

I'd love to see a CV controlled stereo panner!

os, if you're planning any more firmware updates, would it be possible to include wav playback with selectable start and end points on x and y instead of start and retrig? or start on x end on y and speed on x? that way it could work similar to a bastl grandpa.

Thanks for making such an amazing module, i've got two and want more!
