ES8 + ES6 config

Post by isol » Thu Jun 21, 2018 7:36 am

I've had my ES8 for about 6 months and its been awesome, so I picked up an ES6 module to expand the number of inputs.
However after installing the ES6, connecting the expansion cable and plugging the adat out from the ES6 into the ES8 adat input I'm not getting any signal into the Ableton from any of the ES6 input channels (5,6,7,8,9,10).
What have I missed? Did I need to change the expansion jumper settings on the ES6? There seems to be a real hole in the documentation here.

That should be it.

You can test without the ES-6 - plug the ADAT cable into the ES-8 at both ends. You should then be able to send signals out of outputs 9-16 and back into 5-12. If you can, then you know the ES-8 and the cable work, and your software configuration is correct.

The ES8 worked fine with self routing, I removed the blue jumper connector on the ES6 and everything works fine now!

Hmm. Can you recall where the jumper was before you removed it? I wonder if it was in the wrong place.

The jumper was set to 3/5, right in the middle.
The image shown in the manual for the ES6 doesn't have the jumper on at all.

OK thanks. I'm going to ask them to check the rest.

Hijacking an old thread. My ES-6 (bought it 2nd hand) does not have the blue jumper at all. I use it with my ES-8 so does it affect its functionality any way? In the manual it says it prevents spurisous input - do not understand what it means.

Putting the jumper on stops random stuff appearing on ADAT channels 7/8 (in the absence of an ES-7). It's not required.
