Keep clock output after MIDI clock stops ?

Post by chapelier fou » Mon Jan 20, 2020 4:15 am

Hi,

I am desperately looking for a way to have clocks going on even when I stop the clock on my DAW.

I'm using ableton live, with a dedicated track just sending a looping note to the FH-2 to be used as a clock for delays (echophon + chronoblob) and to clock Wogglebug, and trigger Clouds grains.
I'm using a note out instead of the MIDI clock because I find it more flexible, as I can have specific rates on specific parts of the songs, or have unregular/rhythmic grain triggers on Clouds.

My problem is that whenever I stop the DAW's transport, Echophon looses the sync and reverts back to 120 bpm (I think) after 2 seconds.

I'm trying various solutions to keep the clock going. Amongst them, use Peaks, or 4MS SCM or Syinsi Clock tile. But clocks are not steady.

Is there a way you think of to solve this with the FH-2 ?

My thoughts are :

- Use an internal clock of the FH-2 and set the tempo via CC (I believe it is now possible).
- Have a clock mode that ignores MIDI Clock Stop. I'm not sure it's technically possible.
- Set up my clock track to send just two pulses to Peaks, so it keeps going without misclaculating some clock pulses.

Sorry for the long explanation,
Just hoping I might be missing an obvious solution.

The FH-2 has an option for tempo-synced LFOs to continue to run when the clock is stopped.

I'm sorry, I don't get how to set up a simple square LFO that always runs and slaved to the incoming tempo.
I've got tempo coming to the DIN clock, it's properly displayed on the screen.
But no idea if an LFO can be always running without sending it CCs.

You can set it up with CCs or via the Preset menu.

The option to have LFOs always run is in the Settings menu.

Well, I feel stupid. I don't get it at all and I'm very sorry to ask but :
would you care giving a step-by-step to set up a square LFO on output 7 that would be slaved to the incoming MIDI clock from DIN, at a rate of 1/4th ?
