FH-1 and iconnectmidi2 with iPad help.

Post by jardmonkey » Sun Feb 23, 2020 6:05 pm

Hello community.

I recently picked up an FH-1 used, and an iconnectmidi2 box in the hopes of using them with my iPad/iPhone.

My understanding was that by default FH-1 would output pairs of CV pitch/Gate on outputs 1-8.

I’ve got it hooked up thusly: iPad>iconnectmidi2 usb1 and iconnectmidi2 usb2> FH-1.

FH-1 shows usb led and blinking on incoming midi from the ipad(fugue machine app).

However, no CV or gate is coming out of the FH1 outputs.

I have attempted to reset to factory defaults. FH-1 is on firmware 2.3.

If anybody has any suggestions or tips on getting midi from an iPad app like fugue machine out through iconnect devices>FH-1 it would be hugely appreciated. I’m not sure if my FH-1 is faulty.

Obviously the easy route would be to pick up an FH-2, but I’d like to try what I have first.

Have you tried sending on different MIDI channels?

OS, I have tried sending on all the midi channels available In the settings in the iOS app. Even though I see the usb activity led blinking on FH-1, all the output LEDs remain solid blue.

I would erase the configuration script, if any, and reboot. Menu H-7.

No go. Clearing the config scripts didn't help. I'm going to test if plugging in a plain vanilla USB midi keyboard works before I throw in the towel on FH-1. That should just work 100% straightforward yeah, should give CV and gate for pitch and note length on outputs 1 and 2...no iconnect required? Failing that, does the FH-2 work with the USB C port to connect straight to the IOS device with midi apps?

The FH-2 will connect direct to an iPad Pro (with USB C). iPads with a Lightning connector need the Lightning-USB adaptor.
