ES-9 input 1-14 directly routing to Buses

Post by mr_karlos » Mon Feb 24, 2020 6:44 pm

I sometimes use my modular with ES-9 in standalone mode (with no computer connected). I have a default setup that routes H/W inputs 1 to 8 to both the main out and the headphone out.

When I later connect my computer I use either the ES-9 Configurator or my new Max device to set the device to the default config.

Anyway, I wanted to know if I will always be limited to only 8 of the 14 H/W inputs due to the need to use the mixer as the processing block to route to the Main L/R and Headphone L/R?

Is there a way to route the H/W inputs directly to one of the internal Buses e.g. to route H/W inputs 7/8, 9/10 to Bus 2 and 11/12, 13/14 to Bus 3? I was thinking about using these as my effect buses to send to a disting (or two).

I think this isn't possible but I wanted to check with the person that created these amazing devices :hail:

The only possibility that I might pursue is to have an option to do away with the SPDIF connections, which would free up resources to make a second mixer block.

Would that work for you?

Os,

For the moment I have put a loopback on the S/PDIF. I then have mapped HW in 13 and 14 to Output 8. This gives me two channels to sum to pass to the Disting for reverb or tape delay.

I now have an 8 in 2:2 out for main and phones with a separate 2 sum.

I'm happy with what I have, a standalone mixer and a multi-in USB device. Don't make any code changes for me.

ES-9 is my favorite module. It's absolutely amazing with Ableton or VCV, but sometimes I like to wiggle without the computer.

Would you mind sharing a screenshot of your standalone configuration? I setup standalone wrong on my ES9 and audio levels change when I plug or unplug multiple inputs. In default mode connected to computer everything works perfectly. Thanks!

Being able to mix directly in the module would be fantastic

This might help - E.g.configuration of 4 mono inputs and two stereo inputs:
