Seems to be a fair bit of empty space, no chance of shaving off a couple of HP? Or get bigger knobs on it so it's all wider and chunky? That said, smaller would be better.

Yeah I realise that. Often (in my patches at least) the mixer is set and left. So it's not wiggling hand room for me, just empty space.

Each to there own though. :tu:

Well I wouldn't go really small and ugly as shit, but that's euro! :)

Too big for me to justify it though. I think it'll be the same for a lot of people

There's room to go with a second set of jacks as a channel out so it can be 6 attenuators, with the output removing it from the mixed output.

Maybe 6 ins left hand side, 6 outs right hand side, the 4 mixed outs across the bottom and just nudge everything up a bit.

I dunno :despair: thinking out loud. Chuck a thread up in euro and see what people say :guinness:

these would be 1/2" knobs identical to the ones on Archangel:

Jacks at the bottom, knobs above! This gives you the best wiggling opportunities.

I like the extra outputs, but they are not necessary for me.
6 inputs is a bit much to.
4 inputs would be perfect with 2 outputs.

Not sure about bipolar for me, but positive, negative and a clean out sets the apart I think.

As others are saying I don't think the extra outs are necessary for most wigglers. If only 4 ins and 2 outs with jacks at the bottom saves HP, well then I think most would be happy.

....If all this is possible of course :guinness:

i'm trying to build an instrument here. when the STG Soundlabs Synthesiser is done (that is, at the point of being a self-sufficient line) my convention of inputs on the left, outputs on the right will make sense. (there will be a couple of exceptions but only just.)

in the meantime, it's not the same setup as everyone else.

i really dig the look of your plan as is, i hope it stays the same. i love modules that have a roomy feel and this looks like it would be a joy to patch. it has that 5u look, i wish euro rack was a bit more vanilla like 5u i dont mean vanilla boring but 5u just has a coherent feel about it. ill put mine next to my .mix with purple davies to match and the sea devils on the right! cant wait to have 9 channels of moog saturation!

The idea of ins left outs right to make a solid instrument is great. I still think it's just a tiny bit too wide. Space for wiggling is great, and shouldn't be cramped. But generally people want smaller and knockin' 2HP might just make it fit a few more peoples racks. Considering a lot of people won't have a full STG instrument, just select modules.

Looks nice! I agree that 2HP narrower would make a big difference. Also, what about having additional outs on the right for top 3 channels only and bottom 3 channels only (rather than the aforementioned suggestion of 6 individual channel outs), I reckon this would appeal to a lot more people who have smaller systems, while not removing or changing of the features as it currently stands. Just an idea.

reppiks very good idea, a few attenuators removing 3 channels from the mix and a 3 way mixer undearneath still or just 6 way mixer would be awesome.
