There was a design revision for quicker manufacturing so I haven't shipped any for a while but the new ones will be shipping out again in a month.

Does that mean that it won't be nearly as deep, and won't have that metal plate on the left side that adds another hp to its width in my Mission 9 because the only spot where it fits depth wise is in the upper left corner and the bolts on the plate smack right up against the rail?

If so, anyone with a deeper case want to trade a new Sea Devils for an older revision? I hear that the older revision has more vintage flavor :hihi:

the card size and orientation will not change unless we move to SMT on this. i have to use the same PCB for both formats.

however, if you want to move the card the new construction makes it easier because there are only 2 ribbon cables that connect the front panel to the mainboard.

cutoff

Post by kaoss » Fri Jul 15, 2011 1:01 pm

I'm not sure if this was discussed here before - I'm using my new euro SDF for the first time today and noticed that when the cutoff is all the way clockwise it's still cutting off some high frequencies. Also, it fully 'closes' when set at approximately 2.5
Is there a trim pot inside that allows for the range of the Cutoff pot to be fine-tuned?

I'm assuming I can get it to open up more using CV but haven't had a chance to try it yet (I'm just at a recording session using the SDF for quick manual sweeps)

Just placed the order for this guy...

My plan all along was to get the post-lawsuit filter as my second filter (to the.com SVF) but after listening to every demo imaginable, this one struck me as the one I really wanted. I'm sure I'll have to get the PLF soon enough.

Prety jazzed over here!

Discrete?

Post by dykesh » Tue Jan 10, 2012 3:54 pm

Is the Sea Devil a discrete design and does that matter in terms of overall sound quality? I'm just trying to get my head wrapped around what's discrete and what's not and if it really matters in the end... thanks

Make more of these. I thought I had one ordered last weekend, but it turned out that only Post Lawsuit filters were in stock.
Perhaps all pleasure is only relief.

everything except for the input/output buffers are discrete.

2 inches deep!?!?

Post by wsy » Wed Jul 11, 2012 4:49 am

Two inches deep, eh? Does that apply to MU as well?

This does explain a little about how that now that I have space for a Time Suite, they're unobtainium.

(and I hope you're not doing it just for me ! Dotcom allows 2.75" in front of the linear supply and the MU skiffs / ATA cases take that into account.)

My statement only applies to eurorack. I'm sorry.

Voltage Mini-Store, Wavefolder, SDF, and P-L/LPF will contiue to have perpendicular cards. Everything else will have parallel cards unless it's not possible.

They just seem huge and so different than your 4hp modules.
Sorry i had to ask Because it is thé reason why i havent bought them.

Have any of the Sea Devils Filter (Euro) with shorter depth made it out into the wild yet? I ordered one from Analogue Haven and it turned out it was one with the 3.75" depth configuration.

I had an email from Schneiders last week saying they are in stock there. Escape from Noise have them in stock too I believe. I would imagine the usual US suspects would have them too then. :tu:
