Thank you :) I'm really looking forward to the upcoming modules too. MultiFX, AlgoDrone, Quantizer(?), etc.

Here's some music made with the AE Modular and two iPad synths:

Ive created my first AE module :)
(actually my first module full stop)

some details:
- 8 CV input
- 2 audio/cv outputs
- based on Bela Mini, so A8 1ghz, low latency
- fits in AE Module , 2U module (5x10x3cm!)

I might build an 'expander module' , which would have some digital UI, and some leds for feedback, perhaps a couple of buttons or something.. but will see how this works first.

Image

and the obligatory bleeps and bloops, as she breathes here first gasps of the cv.

a few more details on the bela forum.

Does the 16 step seq let you do ratcheting by using the accent setting for the pitch knobs?

It looks to me from the spec sheet that you can get 1-8 gate retriggers per step. Is that correct?

Nice custom module! The two rack starters come with all the blank panel as well! That's awesome.

This is so cool! I’m not very familiar with Bela but I assume it’s something like an Arduino for audio?

Yes, whenever an accent step is reached the accent CV is sent and multiple gates are output according the the retrigger knob setting.

Bela much more powerful, A8 1ghz - so more like raspberry pi , but low latency , and a proper audio codec. Proper real-time Linux (Xenomai) , so you can run pure data / supercollider/csound or anything else - comes with a nice browser based interface too :)
It’s amazing to get this is such a small package.

Now that is really badass.

I already liked that it had integral trigger out.

I'm ordering a system this weekend, wth.

So the bela module would be a bit like a terminal tedium? You can run Pure Data patches on it? I can't program for toffee, but I've heard some interesting demos on the terminal tedium thread.

this simple test , yes was a simple synth...

similar to TT yes...yes, you can run Pure Data, SuperCollider, Csound , whatever...

ok, to back up ... whats my plan?

Ive developed and released a virtual modular called 'Orac' on the Organelle.
but its cross-platform, so Im going to be releasing Orac 1.1 on the rPI and Bela Salt, and also this AE Module !

so for a while Ive been working towards the goal of a .. "virtual physical modular hybrid" for musicians - all open source and free.
(this is just another offshoot of that)

more on Orac here...

loopops top quality review of Orac :)

my more detailed/tech preview video (not as well scripted though ;) )

Eurorack adapters are in the shop now:
http://tangiblewaves.weebly.com/store/p ... e_12U.html

Sizes are 8U, 12U and 16U. "U" meaning the amount of AE Module space.

Thank you! I'm very impressed as well, about the AE Modular's sound and features for that low price. Running it on that 9V powerbank for hours is also really cool. I have the feeling that this format could become a big thing.

Thanks! It took me a while to find this powerbank, because somehow I didn't think about people wanting to power their guitar pedals like that ... which seems very obvious right now, that they do and that a thing like this exists  This Harley Benton powerbank is especially good with its 10,000mAh capacity and USB rechargeability.

Great videos!

I just got an email from DHL that mine is on it's way!

Robert is great to talk with if you have any questions about the system or orders.

2 exciting things happened today....

a) official tangible waves forum launched

news: https://www.tangiblewaves.com/blog
forum: http://forum.aemodular.com/

this will not only be great for direct support, but also hopefully a place for the AE community to grow.

b) my new modules arrived
I order a stack of modules, and also the new Eurorack frame, so a busy evening ahead, and then some fun integrating AE with my eurorack setup.

I really like the style and price of this format, and I think it sounds excellent, but how do you find the little cables for live performance? I would be afraid of accidentally yanking out a cable during performance and ruining a patch.

The patch cables are pretty good, certainly a lot better than the original cables that came with the Kickstarter machine, and the sockets are also a lot better so cables falling out (my system is vertical) is much less of an issue than it was. It is possible to knock one out trying to put another one in, which is much due to the small format and my clumsiness than anything else I think. If your AE Modular was flat/ horizontal (or nearly so), I would be surprised if you had any issues, unless you get dancing about too much!
Time is an illusion, lunch time doubly so.
