Exactly how many olympic swimming pools are there in an octave?
Hmm... Geography is definitely not my strong side...

As far as pitch standards go, yeah, there's some wacky stuff out there but everything I have is literally labelled v/Oct so I'm running with that.
V/oct is the prevailing pitch CV standard in Eurorack. It's just that it's relative pitch.

Guitar frets are also pretty much standardized. Nonetheless the pitch of a guitar string hit depends on two factors - the finger's position on the fretboard, and the pitch to which the string is tuned to begin with.

Sequencing with V/oct is pretty much the same - the pitch CV is just the finger on the neck, your VCO's tuning is the other half of it.

@Chrutil: I take full responsibility for starting with the guitar analogies, now kindly quit trolling in noob threads.

No explanation of a concept is complete without a car analogy.
Any takers?
I think we also need a sports analogy, though I know nothing about sports and can't provide one.
A marathon is 26 miles 385 yards (1V/oct) but you can start running from where ever you like (tuning). :hmm:

I know nothing about sport.

My car does 29miles/gallon - but I can start driving from anywhere.

I don't know much about cars either... :despair:
