Been a synth enthusiast for a couple of decades, I have decided to take the plunge and build a eurorack system. I'm a fan of DIY and soldering so i'm starting entirely with kit modules. I've picked about 30 that will fit into 84x9u and i'm leaving 3u for expansion. using two of the the doepfer a100 diy powerkits so will be building a 12u x 84hp case

just finished building my first module, the befaco even vco. i have a plan on modular grid
https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/720239

plaits is the only non diy module there, i placed it there because i like it but I haven't decided yet if I will get it or not.

I am looking to build my own Klee Sequencer in and I would like to put it in a Moog euro rack 60HP case to be part of a three tiered rack. The Klee is 56HP and there is room for a 4HP module. Are there recommendations of what to put in that space? does the Klee have a built in amplifier?

Any help would be appreciated!

Mixer Modules

Post by BClarke1996 » Wed Nov 07, 2018 5:49 am

Hi, I am very new to the world of modular and have a question if anyone can help. I am looking to buy a mixer module and can across 'linear' ones and 'logarithmic' ones. What is the difference?

Volts?

Post by ambientnoise » Tue Dec 11, 2018 6:14 pm

I’m having a hard time understanding the whole +5V to -5V or -10V to +10V thing. How does it relate to control voltage and why is it important? Any where I can learn more about it?

I have recently built my first diy modules from full kits. Bastl multiple, SSSR Labs clock divider and Befaco Sampling Modulator. Building a whole setup with 30 kits seems super cool. I wish i had 30 kits to build!

I searched and it looks like the Fact Mag Eurorack Buyer's Guide hasn't come up so far so I thought I'd share it.

https://www.factmag.com/2017/09/21/modu ... ers-guide/

My caveat is that I haven't yet taken the plunge, I'm just trying to do some reading and lurking here and there to get a feel for this!

FactMag wrote:Most manufacturers adhere to the generally-accepted Eurorack standards originally laid out by Dieter Doepfer (including a red stripe marking the -12V supply on each module’s power cable), and include “keyed” connectors which physically prevent modules from being plugged in incorrectly.
Sounds very funny, as the Doepfer website specifically mentions to use unboxed headers :hihi:

Awesome!

Have recently began the journey down the modular rabbit hole.

This'll come in handy for sure.

Thanks

About to dive into modular... Selling my OB-6 for this shit...

Decided to go with a prebuilt case, not much of a DIY, just an experimenter, and I’m not trying to experiment on building a functional case from scratch.

Case : Pittsburgh Modular Structure 270

Edit : updated this already

Modules : Mutable Instruments Plaits, Doepfer SEM filter, Make Noise Maths, Expert Sleepers Disting, 2HP ADSR (x2), 2HP VCA, Mutant Brain Hexinverter

I have an oscillator, filter, function generator, Disting for serving various needs, Hexinverter for sequencing from my Octatrack... Any of those you’d recommend leaving out or anything you’d suggest I add?

Just started with only two modules

Post by megabeast » Tue Apr 16, 2019 1:27 pm

I've started on a modular with just a doepfer 303 filter and VCA - using reaktor for oscillators and CV. Brilliant stuff. Really interesting sounds already.
Next up: lots of time on Muff Wiggler and seeing if a real analogue oscillator sounds much better than Reaktor!
