so i'm wondering: can anyone think of a way to use a MIDI instrument (ie: Octatrack) to talk to the CVpal without a computer peripheral?

Wouldn't midi out to a midi interface be better? As in midi to cv in the modular. Rather than through USB?

Ummm... maybe just use a Kenton Pro Solo and forget about the CVPal? Otherwise, the iConnectiy iMidi might do that, but it would seem to be simpler to not bother with USB.

Nope, this is not a USB host, it's explained on MI's website.
You need a computer (OSX or Linux preferably) or an iOS device I think.

Damn... I had to think a lot about getting one first, now that I wanted to order, they're sold out...

Is there gonna be a second batch and if so when?

I missed my chance to get one the first time around but I just read through the manual. This implementation is very well designed and very flexible considering the limitations of such an inexpensive module. Superb use of the MIDI channels!

great kit and documentation, and the design and implementation are amazingly well thought out.

btw perfect kit for beginners, this is as close to buying a finished product as any DIY will get.

i built mine earlier this week and it was super quick.
really handy.

my only issues are that it isn't recognized by my macbook air or iPhone 5 but works great with my 2009 macbook.

any ideas on what could be the problem?

Built mine last night. Great kit. Very elegant in its simplicity, and works great.

Thank you Olivier!

Just built mine recently too. No problems calibrating both the CV outs.
Tested it on my PC running Sonar X2 and recognizes the interface even though I also have another audio/MIDI interface already plugged in. So could see both interfaces in Sonar :tu:

I tried my CVpal with 1st generation iConnect MIDI today. I could not get it to work.
