also wondering why in operator A/B Follow mode the pitch knob's minimum is higher than in Free mode. clearly there's no problem getting the FM and phase distortion to work with high frequency spreads (e.g. 1/8, 16x, and extremes of Free mode).
maybe to prevent the operator from "ignoring" pitches that are "too low" when the pitch CV + the operator's own offset pushes the pitch value below the minimum the module will recognize?
(if so I think it would be better for us to manage that ourselves with the operator's pitch offset knob)
I actually wrote IME support about this. They replied that its to keep the freq within its limits, cause there is a limit. I did not reply further that what about the 16x etc in divide mode, and also that i agree with you about we can manage this ourselves, just cut the frequencies out or something.
Its also a bit of a pita why you cant just have the whole frequency spectrum in one sweep on all knobs. This octave up down business is great, but could be on top of having the opportunity to sweep the whole range.
Half the point of fm for me is to have extreme frequencies and sweeping through them with dramatic results. The shapeshifter can do this fine (plus also go lfo or high as a kite frequencywise).
So why. Why not? Seems so easy to fix
Hertz donut. Extreme oscillator.
Come with the extreme
