Pickit2 ($20 from geek online store or whatever) and pickit2cmd worked like a charm! I'm on 10.12.

End of the day I just ran pk2cmd from the command line. There are some GUI wrappers and stuff but it all looked more complicated getting it current than just going via terminal.

pk2cmd -M -Y -A3.3 -P25LC512 -F/path/to/wave.hex

(-M writes, -Y verifies, -A3.3 might not be necessary but supplies 3.3 amps via the pickit, -P specifies the chip and then -F is the file, to save someone else some manpage digging).

Anyway, I'm in business!
I build kits, do mods/repairs, teach soldering & DIY skills - PM me for info!
