burning piston honda roms in 2019

Post by jwm » Wed Oct 23, 2019 5:38 pm

i love my OG piston...but it would be cool to have some new roms.

i recently updated a HD mk2 with a pickit3 and the newest version of mplab on osx el capitan...and i got to thinking hmm, i think i have all the required components to make some roms? (have the harvestman device programmer, and some extra 25LC512 chips as well a buddy who has a pickit2 i could borrow if need be)

i got pretty close, but after some digging it turns out that the newest mplab (or i suppose more specifically the pickit3 via mplab v5.25) has no support for writing 25xx eeproms.

i've been in and out of a bunch of the threads talking about work-arounds (µburn, terminal stuff, etc) and it seems like most of, if not all the links around these parts appear to be borked (or dated) and i was just curious, i'm not a super coder hacker guy, but does anyone have a lead on how this may be reliably done in 2019 on osx? fired off a message to the guv, but figured in the meantime i'd ask around...

thanks mt3 but, predictably, that didn't work, as i don't have a way to install the needed software to get the pickit2 to be recognized by osx.

anyone else? or am i SOL?

Sorry for the delay. Microchip makes their archived IDEs difficult to get to.
Here's all their MPLAB software versions since Pickit 1.0:
