- It's a hybrid switching-into-linear-regulator supply, with fairly large heat sinks on the linear regulators. I've not had the chance to thrash it and see how the modules behave, but everyone's powered up so far without issue.
- I too needed more power (for one, the eventual plan is for 6 Distings - 4 are mounted so far); I had the +12v capacity doubled to 10 amps. The extra price was very reasonable.
- The power supply does not normally supply +5v. I bought 6 of ADDAC's plug-in boards that add +5 (drawn from the +12 rail) locally to just that board.
- The ergonomics are really nice - the amount of curve was well thought out; the width to height ratio is comfortable. (I did have to order longer patch cables; a new batch is on its way from Black Market Modular...)
- The odd number of HP in the width is...odd. I only have a couple of modules that are an odd number of HP wide, so I'll be using some 1 HP and 3 HP blanks eventually.
- Does not ship with screws; have those handy. I used 3M x 8mm hex head bolts plus nylon washers. The threaded strips do not reach the full width of the case; each row is made up of 2-3 segments each - so it took a little bit of sliding and aligning initially when mounting modules, but then it went smoothly from there. The rails would be easy to remove and replace if you wanted to take out the threaded strips and go with sliding nuts instead.
- Shipping to the US was very reasonable, I thought - under $200. But the Monster Frame got beat up in shipping; I had to spend a few days making repairs. And my timing was such that Andre was on vacation when it arrived. But he sent a very helpful email today for my remaining issues. As a result, they will be changing their packing in the future. Also, mine - most likely because of the damage - had some flexing issues on the back panel in particular; I added a spine of aluminum angle which cured it.

Well....details below on my 901M 21U and ADDAC Experience:
- The case is well designed & solid. The cut openings on the side-panels are nice for handling the case as well as routing cabling to the back of modules if necessary (i.e. nw2s::io). The length (1meter wide) of the case is perfect and the odd HP isn’t an issue due to plenty of eurorack module configurations. Power is provided via one cable connected to the case and the 2 LEDS located on the front of the case for power status is a welcomed feature.
- I added additional 5A to each rail for a total of 15A on ±12V rails (not shared). This actually turned out to be more than enough power and I probably would’ve been fine with the now standard 10A for each rail.
- I added 6 of ADDAC’s bus boards w/5V adapters. You don’t really need to upgrade the ENTIRE case with all the bus boards/5V adapters if you strategically place the boards & your modules requiring so. I do recommend a minimum of 6. I had mine installed on rows 3, 5, 7 (from bottom to top).
- I added the 200A Ammeter (highly recommended) since it measures the current draw in the system. It’s an excellent module and a no brainer for case of this size. ADDAC will ask what row you want it installed and the top (left) or bottom (left) rows are best for visibility but you can place anywhere you want. Take note because you won’t want to move it once installed.
- I added the frame shelf system 901MS. This ships separately (separate shipping charges) from the case. It’s easy to install and is great for setting small items on top of. If there’s one small thing I would change it’s the very top hardware screws ADDAC provided (2 for each side) for securing the top shelf (I didn’t use the ones provided since they wouldn’t have set flush when drilled). I suggest you obtain/use your own (going to advise ADDAC to supply a different set).
- The quoted shipping cost to the USA (greater L.A. area) was reasonable at 320euro ($377). The packaging was excellent and the case arrived safely/undamaged via USPS in a special delivery truck! Keep in mind lead times (2mos) from order placement/payment to delivery. Make sure someone is around to accept delivery as you will likely have to sign for the package and it’s not something you can simply go and pick up at the post office unless you have a vehicle to accommodate. I’m not sure if ADDAC offers other expedited delivery services (i.e UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.) but be careful if yes and you choose because you will probably get hit with a separate bill for import/customs duties & fees.
- Closing comments, it’s one of the BEST ‘large’ eurorack cases available from a manufacture. The costs are reasonable and you have options to customize the case to your specifications. Filipe & Andre from ADDAC were AWESOME and helpful in communications from order placement through delivery. The only drawback is that after you’ve set-up and racked your modules you might want another 21 or 15U!!

think he had it planned out before he executed? the longer i do this the more clear my module placement and setup is but keeping it simple as much as possible is the rule of that rules my book.. a system like that must have a nice sound and variety. who needs real gear? hahamonads wrote:Not mine...but pretty cool build up!!!![]()

I've had an ADDAC Monster for more than a year now. Solid case. Very nice in almost every respect... with one caveat.
PSU... I noticed from day one that certain modules misbehaved. Koma Poltergeist for instance would power up with random solo or mutes active. Didn't do that before. Etc. Recently, I've done more studio recording and sound design. Under the RX microscope, I would find strange noise patterns in my sounds. Closer inspection finds that all my digital modules emit a noise floor.... in some instances, it's intense. Tasty Chips ECR1 was especially noisy. Same with e520, Disting EX, and etc. I'm currently experimenting with LIBB passive bus boards. Hope installing these help lower that noise floor on digital modules.
Anyone else experience noise floor in this design? Tried other bus boards? Can anyone explain why ADDAC have ground wires inserted into the +12v and -12V outputs of each PSU? It's like one is only supplying +12v and the other PSU is only -12v and they wired the unused outputs to ground.
