ADDAC 207 Gate Out Behavior

Post by adnauseam » Sun May 24, 2020 2:09 pm

Hey there,

Just got an older 207 in a trade. It's awesome so far.

I'm reading the manual. It says:
"Gate Out (0, +5v): Gate out for ADSR's
Outputs everytime a new quantization is calculated"

Does this mean it will output a gate every time the quantizer receives a gate on a particular channel?
This is more like a gate pass through. This means that whenever it receives a gate (to calculate the quantization) it will pass it on regardless if the quantized value has changed.

Does this mean it should output a gate only when the quantized value changes?
This is what I'm more familiar with. More similar to the Doepfer A-156. If the quantized value changes it passes a gate if not - no gate.

If anyone else has this and wants to share their experience that would be helpful.

Thanks

You can toggle this behaviour on or off with BUTTON 7 (see page 17 in the manual for more info.)

I discovered the setting TRIG.R (trig repeat) and found that turning it off produces gates ONLY when the quantized note changes. Just like the doepfer A-156

It also works when not Gate is patched at the Inputs, which means it can help you make notes out of incoming LFOs, etc, using the Gate Out and the Gate Length option.
