vidsynthin a bit tonight at cameo in brooklyn, i think our set is 8:30 or something. does LED performance count for this thread? ? :) just did my first ipad->touchOSC->missing link->midi controlled arduino-> rgb animated LED rig performance this past weekend and it was a blast. nothing quite like sitting on the balcony with an iPad doing a light art performance, especially after having a few hits :rastanana:

Can you explain a bit more about your LED rig setup? Links?

I don't have much online explaining it but some vids are up at ptvn.net

I use digital addressable LED strips controlled by arduino. I program the animations in arduino code, and then also have created a
midi interface for the arduino, so I can send midi cc data to change colors, animations, speeds, etc. I'm working on wireless controls for some chandeliers and commercial lighting installs, so I have a missing link wireless OSC hotspot for development, and I put together a touchOSC patch on the iPad that sends the midi controls that my arduino can understand. that's pretty much it. I'm
working on adding DMX
input as well as output, where the arduino becomes a command multiplier essentially, creating LFOs and other modulations from far simpler DMX or midi data.

I'm currently working on establishing a web presence... when jobs and gigs die down I will be all over that shit. so that means if all goes well.... never

I'll be doing an installation on Saturday, September 22 At a cafe called Raw Sugar as part of Nuit Blanche Ottawa. It'll be a multiple projectors and cameras scenario, including a controllable PTZ cam.

Should be fun.

If you're in Baltimore this weekend, some of my video work will be projected as part of this opera. I was responsible for depicting "crazy" and "madness" and "wormholes in space." You know, the usual video synth stuff. It draws a lot from the stripes stuff that I've been posting.

im creating a video installation in a couple weeks for a show called onn/of

https://www.facebook.com/events/320683894708200/

the installation im creating is called television telephone where im taking a camera feed and looping it through several monitors, with some sort of video effect unit (circuit bent video processor, LZX, MVIP, mixers, feedback etc) in each point of the chain. i have a nice room in an old BMW dealership building. cant wait. heres more or less the plan:

Looks cool. Does the audience get to play with the controls?

they could. everything will be out in the open. id just be afraid of someone hitting a wrong button on a mixer or something and shutting down the chain. well see! i do plan on playing with it over the 2 days to so it constantly looks different

Well, you could tape little plastic boxes over some of the controls to prevent people touching those ones. Or cut some acrylic with holes in it so they can only touch certain controls through the holes.

I'm actually doing vizzies for my work's corporate party tonight. And they're paying me!!! It'll be neet to see my coworker's reactions to what I'm doing and how I'm incorporating some of the equipment my company uses for actual video conference systems for clients.

I'm doing a few gigs this weekend with Chrome Canyon in SF and LA. Also doing a set on Boilerroom.tv on Monday. The entire set will be 3d animation using all video synthesized texture maps. You can get an idea from the trailer below. Of course, live video synth will be involved as well:
