The Ming Mecca has basically just obliterated my desire for any audio modules aside from the ones I have already

This will also work with a Philips DVDR-985, although they are considerably less reliable and more bulky than the Panasonic.
I went ahead and tried as spacenoodle, but with a lower version model; Panasonic DMR-E80H DVD/hard disk recorder :hihi: It has the same component spec. It works fine as reported. I did notice the pass through signal (when static) has a noticeable, almost instantenous refresh rate. It's super minor, and you will not be able to tell/notice this with Ming Mecca being animated/CVd. I just thought I should point this out.

The below worked perfectly with the Panasonic model:

-Component connection connected to the Visual Cortex, locked fine.
-RCA Video Out to the LZX TBC, and the TBC to Visual Cortex. No problems.
-RCA Video Out to MVIP. No problems.

So..although I would've liked to have a module to avoid a bulky recorder to accomplish the above it's no big deal. I can also save modular space for other video modules!!! I grabbed a working player w/remote for $120. You can likely save money by going with a broken unit (optical drive). If a expander module is ever released, I'll still purchase one just to have on hand :tu:
After a bit of testing I found a better solution. An Extron TSC-100 before the Ambery fixes the problem. You can even skip the Ambery (monochrome) - the TSC puts out clean 480i. I might have some other options shortly, still experimenting.

Reading the manual and it mention many more modules were planned. Is this still the case? Any other modules in the works to add to the special stage family?

I have no inside information, but Special Stage Systems released two products in the last year (Ming Micro and Oscillographic Block), so it's not as though they're sitting on their laurels.

I wasn't implying that they were. The micro is excellent but in no way interfaces with the world core. While the oscillator could be thought as a sonic addition to the video system, I'm more curious if there was any planned additions to the video system or if development is complete.

I love Jordan. Oscillographic Block (OB) is awesome and Ming Mecca is the shiit. Ming Micro was not the (crowd funded??) follow-up ming mecca users were looking or hoping for. And like 'Matos' said...curious on expansions/addition VIDEO modules to ming mecca.

It should be on the sd card. The card has the manual, editor, and the sprite editor thing with a weird name.

I haven't been able to get my 3trins to lock the input from the ming micro. might be a totally different beast. My old usb capture also has some sort of issue with the signal (some colors are vertically interlaced. Probably doesn't like 240p ntsc or something. A projector I have has 0 issues displaying the colors perfectly from the MMicro though. whew.

It's really a great idea. But it seems to be very expensive almost 1000$ :( Well I need to save money from now :) Meanwhile I will continue to play on http://www.friv4online.com/ . It’s entertaining and a great way to kill time while waiting.

Didnt find a dedicated DIY thread, but did anyone here DIY the Ming Mecca?

Almost done, core works fine, but theres some oddness with control core.
I use a pickit 2 for programming, set up the circuit on breadboard like so:
https://www.arrow.com/en/reference-desi ... bbc31ff202 (emulation device part) and Pickkit 2 2.55 gives me all kinds of good messages of succesfull programming.
End result though is all top leds blinking now and then at the same time.

Just finished these off with a pretty cool custom module.
One custom module includes preview screen, 3 LFO's with three waveforms each and two envelopes. Also includes bufferred video out's!
