Sad Synth Songs

Post by nklif » Fri Dec 28, 2018 12:52 pm

Post'em if you got'em. I'll try and make a playlist at some point. I'm into emotional and sad/somber stuff. The more synthy, the better and I prefer your music.

I recorded this at a time when I was feeling pretty depressed...does that count?

One of my sadder YouTube videos.

The patch used the following modules and gear:
Synthesis Technology - E102, E355, E560
Happy Nerding - HM VCO, MMM VCF
Mutable Instruments - Rings
Doepfer - A135-1, A-143-1
Circuit Abbey - Unify, Unify Expander
Ladik - Q-010
Erica Synths - Pico Trigger
Steady State Fate - S.P.O.
TC Electronics - Alter Ego v2 delay and Trinity 2 reverb pedals
Mackie - 402-VLZ3 mixer

The chords and solo parts were done with a Novation Ultranova keyboard.

A minimal, sad piece from my last album. I think this was just a Cwejman QMMF-4 into an ER-301 sound computer. The bass is a Dominion 1. Recorded live to tape. It's all synth but not very synthy per se....I try to make things sound organic and broken.

Song should start at 3:13 but for some reason it isn't for me....

This whole album is melancholy as hell come to think of it.

Here’s a sad song I composed while thinking of those that have passed on and left us behind.
The melody was played on a Moog 55.

This one was inspired by the untimely passing of film composer Johann Johannsson

Every time I play this, I feel overcome with sadness. The beats feel like I'm being crushed and smothered by the weight of the world, the lead/bass melody just sounds defeated, and the chords that come in later sound like a church organ being played for a funeral.

This is as heavy to me as The Cure's Faith, Joy Division's Closer, etc.
