Favourite Live Recordings (Any Genre)

Post by Wartimetapestry » Tue Dec 24, 2019 7:22 pm

I've been spending my Christmas Eve rinsing YouTube videos and I rediscovered a few forgotten gems. It got me interested in any noteworthy live performances you all like.

I put forward this number. I love the original but this version from Rome is something else. A band in full swing. Even has your man from King Crimson on the guitar.

Talking Heads were great live.

The Cure Live at Glastonbury - hadn't listened to the Cure for years but this blew me away. Artists at the top of their game and great sound engineering. This video is just of Burn but the full HD set needs to be watched.

Pink Floyd Live at Pompei - again not the whole thing

Pink Floyd 1967

DEVO live 1978

The Prodigy Moscow Russia 1997

jethro Tull Live at the Isle of Wight 1970

Nirvana unplugged

Could probably think of a lot more.

I’ve always loved Nancy, the calm tone and the story.

A decidedly dirty, cogitated modular beat and more than a spattering of cello. 🐾🎻

Nancy is also a favourite of mine. Already a healthy list of things to check out. Cheers!

15 minutes of pure improvisational genius. Between 3:25 and around 7:50 Jack Bruce proves that he was the greatest bass guitar player who ever lived.

Play it LOUD and enjoy.

Nice to see the Prophet 5 used as more than just a pad machine.

Hated the way they looked, but they sounded great.

Wow! Never heard of these guys- this is so incredibly awesome! This is strait up some of the best music I've come across in a while, I am speechless! Love the focus being placed on the synthesist!

My choices would be very mainstream.

I love the sheer energy that Simple Minds irradiated in the eighties.

There is a long intro, the song starts at 2:00.

Talking about band energy, here is U2 live at Red Rocks.

Some music from my childhood.. can't say that I listen to NIN anymore but this performance (especially the piano) blows my mind.

There can only be one and it's the Chameleons. Fucking the most unknown and underrated band in the history of history.

Talk Talk - Living in Another World (Live at Montreaux 1986)

https://invidio.us/watch?v=Hop1tb-DR_k

MD here is Ian Curnow who went on to join Stock Aitken Waterman. Incidentally, I saw TalkTalk at The Lyceum two years earlier and they were competent but nothing more. There was no sign of what they would go on to become.
