SoundCloud rap

Post by onthebandwagon » Tue Jan 07, 2020 7:56 pm

Does anyone have “good” examples of SoundCloud rap? I’m a bit intrigued by the Lil Peep documentary out, how such seemingly sweet kid with a caring mom could end up the way he did (not that it’s a new narrative), but his lyrics are really underwhelming...

I do appreciate something about the format but perhaps it ends there... not sure.

If you don't like Peep's lyrics, then it's not your cup of tea (i dont like them, too): the lyrics of the other popular artists of that tendency are much more stupid and offensive... in some cases (Playboi Carti), there's no lyric at all: only skkkrts and adlibs.

Soundcloud rap is just that: pure nihilist hedonist/depressive teenage malaise and, for me, it is/was an interesting cultural because of this... even if the music or the lyrics are "stupid".
If you want good bars, it's better you look for them elsewhere...
