Grimes - Darkseid (off Miss Anthropocene)

Post by wuff_miggler » Wed Mar 04, 2020 8:41 pm

holy fuckballs...what an incredible tune:

sounds like there's a big name behind this - this mix and instrumental is way too on point...i dont know if that's Chinese rap - but its fucking killing me how good this is...

The vocals in general are straight from 2070 on this whole release!

Glad I won’t be around in 2070.

I think Grimes is one of the most talented and innovative pop producers of this generation. Yeah, a lot of her music isn't exactly my cup of tea but I admire her and her art immensely. I like this tune, gotta check the rest of her new album. Thanks for sharing

there are some really bad misses on this album even...but the sound design and ideas are really incredible...super far ahead of most things i hear even out of the pop world....you could easily tag this as experimental and release it on Bedouin or Infinite Machine and no one would bat and eyelid...
just stellar art...the vocal concept is just especially insane...

The production reminds me of “Justify My Love” by Madonna.

Thanks for this! Intriguing stuff. Gotta say Art Angels got me through some rough times. Looking forward to spending time with this album, alleged warts and all.

As far as I could hear, Grimes didn't sample Public Enemy. /snark :hihi:

But seriously, I dig the Madonna tune, too. Produced by Lenny Kravitz, IIRC. That gave me canine head tilt.

Bedtime Stories is a great album.

The distorted bass and synth layers are great but autotune is always a big NO from me. Is there a instrumental version of this?

I listened to the album in its entirety a few times, it’s fine not great but not awful. I have enjoyed some of Grimes stuff in the past despite her trying way too hard to be weird persona.
