That's because it's not him. It's some cornball "artiste" butchering one of the greatest dub classics of all time.

Though not jamaican, Jah Wobble. Love his "Japanese Dub" record.

Heart of the Congos is hands-down my favorite reggae album. I recently ordered the 3CD set with the original mixes and dubs.

I like a lot of the Blood & Fire releases. Some of my picks are:

Gregory Isaacs - Mr. Isaacs
Ja-Man All Stars - In The Dub Zone
Scientist - Dub In The Roots Tradition
Yabby You - Dub It To The Top 1976-1979
Sylford Walker - Lamb's Bread International
Horace Andy - In The Light/In The Light Dub
Cornell Campbell - I Shall Not Remove 1975-1980

I also have time for the releases on Jamaican Recordings. They have some nasty dub comps:

Linval Thompson - Dub Story
Ronnie Davis - Jamming In Dub
Max Romeo - Crazy World Of Dub
Horace Andy - Rare Dubs 1973-1976
Scientist Meets The Crazy Mad Professor - At Channel One
Lee Perry - Dub Treasures From The Black Ark: Rare Dubs 1976-1978

I think it might have already been mentioned but Massive Attack's No Protection is a thing of beauty

Maybe it’s too obvious a pick - everyone should be well familiar in any given discussion of dub - but the Clash tune posted above (Justice Tonight, my introduction to dub actually) made me think of it, as I’ve always understood that tune to be extrapolated from this one:

Pablo is already all over this thread (as it should be!) but somehow nobody’s posted a version of East Of The River Nile yet? Again, maybe it’s too obvious but even then it deserves a listen - here’s the dubbier version:

And one more, a personal favorite - I’ve been enamored of the song “Summertime” since the first time I heard the Janis Joplin version thirty years ago. The first time I heard the Scratch-produced Errol Walker version -which transforms the downer subtext of the original into the overt text- It was a revelation. Still one of my favorite versions of the song:
It began as a mistake.
