Terrific update! I wasn't aware of Live Five or the Swanyard Sessions, so thanks!

Thanks, many were having issues, purchasing, so, it wasn't only the beer. Charles said they are working on it.
A lot of this shouldn't' have been released, ever! but some good things as well with the Archive set. mostly bad shit, that sounded good when you were high until you you meet a stoned DJ, and then you died in his arms. or something like that?

I really need to dig out my copy of 'Gold is the Metal with the Broadest Shoulders'. It was one of my first intros to Coil (along with 'Horse Rotovator'). I enjoy the fact it's more an album of "skits" or sketches, and there's some great mangled - albeit brief - sounds featured there.

Julian Cope MUST have a record of most use of Mellotron of any artist on his own (or probably any other) recordings so far...

It's not very good, IMO. AFAIK, no streams online anywhere.

OT: Nice Spare avatar! Gotta go through the mammoth task of assigning conditions and prices to my collection at some stage, and deciding what to part with. I have 56 books (including John Balance's signed and dedicated copy of Gavin Semple's 'Zos Kia') and one original sketch from 1945. But that Ugly Ecstasy book is the one I'd never part with, it's by far my fave.

Here's a scan of my sketch:

P.S. Nice to see this thread still going, after Chris started it over a decade ago!

Well, Cope's a (post)punk. So whaddaya expect? 8-) That being said, the multilayered Mellotron/synth intro alone is something else.. Though.

Probably a bit of a stretch here but:

CoH released a Soisong EP in 2012 that was supposed to come with a download code of Peter Christopherson's last would be contributions for the Soisong music.

Apparently the files are out there, but I haven't been able to track them down.

this is the release: https://www.discogs.com/CoH-Soisong/release/3917547

Does anyone have these Sleazy Sketches they could upload for me?

thanks in advance :sb:

just bumping that thread out of curiosity :
is there anything happening nowadays that would fit on "Coil's wavelength", be it your music or someone else's?

I did enjoy making this in the heat of last summer, I was listening to a lot of Sand, Colin Potter, Coil and Flying Saucer Attack at the time. I was also influenced by the tidal range of the river Severn and the local tradition of lave net fishing

Always nice to see this thread bumped, it's one of my favourites on the site. Not many groups modern or otherwise bludgeon the senses and conjure mental visuals like Coil did. In this modern age of online abundance, the magic just isn't there. There is a lovely tribute to John Balance in the Museum of Witchcraft at Boscastle, which is well worth a visit
