Hi,

Here is another fully improvised Eurorack modular techno set.
A kick, a bassline, a hint of distortion, and as we all love: a dirty finish.

No computer involved.
You can download the audio file of this record in a good .flac quality for free on my bandcamp.

Enjoy !

Recorded and edited an improvised jam, first upload - I'm pretty happy with the editing on it!

Straight master buss mix, also the first jam I've done with my Subharmonicon and a bunch of new modules, so definitely don't have the familiarity down to do things at speed!

Patch notes and an "in-my-mind" commentary are in the video :)

You’re obviously doing it wrong. The mixer should be in the red. Apparently it sounds better.

Clearly didn't watch the set ;) Otherwise you'd have noticed my master buss peaks' are tickling the red.

Also, are you really so salty about that thread that you have to make a reference to it every other thread I post in too? lmao

Clearly have no sense of humour.

But wait. “Tickling the red”? :omg:

As much as I like Mathew Johnson, Dante and Dhula are the real talents. It’s not really techno though.

This is the concept in my band Monstera.

We acknowledged that our music became much more satisfying when we played in an improvised condition.

We're playing different instruments Eurorack, Elektron machines, hardware synths etc.

Here is a one hour about 70% improvised jam I did a couple months ago. Still learning, but slowly getting there.

Here is a short 100% improvised dub techno-ish set with my main rig. I have many 'songs' loaded into the Sinfonion and can switch between them using Sinfonion's song mode. Each of these songs is only one scale/mode and each of my melodic voices either outlines a smaller scale, chord, or interval within the song's main scale/mode. Every song is also related to the adjacent song in that they share all but 1 or 2 of the same notes. WMD Volteras control the melodic voices and the chords. Since everything is within a predefined scale, all melodic lines and chords are played gesturally. A Tetrapad controls the rhythm for each melodic voice. Changing loop duration for either the Volteras or Tetrapad can make polymeters :)

Kick rhythm is a basic 4 to the floor, but I have cv from Voltera into a Pam's controlling the probability of slipping a few offbeat kicks between each quarter note for some added spice. The kick can be cut to half time or scilenced with a passive switch. This same idea is also present for the snare, and more or less for the offbeat hihats. There are also 16th note shakers from WMD Chimera and ticks from a WMD Fracture which can both be turned on or off with a switch.

This is sloppy overview of things, but if anyone is interested in more detail OR if anyone has a good idea of alternative workflows using similar modules, please send me a reply.

I can get a decent and basic techno beat going from my Noise Engineering BIA and Cursus Iteritas with Korg SQ-1. Quick and simple.

Hi all! First time posting here a live jam. My performance from the CV FREQS live edition online event a few weeks ago. Is this techno? I'm not sure, but it's definitely improvised. What do you say?

Patch notes:
- The 0-coast is the kick, sequenced by the shakmat modular knight's gallop, into the 4MS DLD (used as a looper) -> bastl/casper dark matter feedback module.
- The feedback is modulated with the MN tempi / a sequencial clock.
- The befaco rampate is the 2nd voice, sequenced by the RYK M-185, into a filter -> the DLD.
- Pocket operator rhythm as a drum machine.

Thanks for listening!
Tom

Here's my first attempt at a fully improvised set just using whatever patch I had been screwing around with earlier in the day.
Thanks for checking it out!

Been there, done it, got the t-shirt. It is no longer the 1990s. Imagine creating something new? Here is an idea: Microtonal "techno" that is beatless...

please feel free to reinvent the wheel with your music and grace it upon the world

Otherwise have a listen to ∑ - Schleifen for great beatless and tonally strange techno.
